Mountainous regions are so cold and otherwise life is tough there. On the other hand I'm the kind of person who even sleeps with a blanket during the summers and with 3-4 warm quilts (kambal - dunno whether you'd know what it is) in the winters including a quilt covering my mattress. Plus an easy going, happy go-lucky person like myself couldn't possibly survive in a tough environment like that !
What was Mother Nature thinking ?
That reminds of my hostel days in Agra during graduation. The building was bang in middle of a very open area (close to a large farmland) very near to bank of river Yamuna. Winters can be really harsh in Agra and to make matters worse, the large open tracts of land provided us with no cover from chilly winds that blow along with thick fog blanket. We were given cots (Charpai as they are called here), and it required serious amount of improvisation (layers of woolen sheets, Rajai etc) to get one cozy. The trouble although was, it was nearly impossible to get away from all this warmth in morning (meaning missing morning classes).
& then in summers, the weather turned opposite to scorching heat (with loo winds).
Mother sure does crazy things.
