So India was not growing economically before Modi? What was that movie on Manmohan Singh about? Hindus believe Modi made India and it was nothing before, like some sort of religion.

As for the applause in the US, we are doing that because we want your money. Stop over exaggerating your importance. Remember, JFK laid out the red carpet for Ayub Khan. It's not because you were born special. It's because we are using you for our strategic purposes.

Pakistan may have its issues, but those are self inflicted. At the end if the day, it lives rent free in the mind of most Indians. Your kind compare India to Pakistan when you should really be comparing to China or the US. I consider Pakistan to be very successful if we take that as a metric.
MMS was an overrated economist and underrated politician (ref: book from Sanjay Maru), his only quality was to obey the material order. let's discuss some of his achievements
  1. he was finance secretary when the Congress govt imposed 97% personal tax on Indians, Yes 97%
  2. He was head of the Planning Commission of India when then Congress PM said this was a "bunch of fools". He didn't resign
  3. famous 1992 liberalization happen in Industrial policies (Congress PM was leading that ministry) but Pliant Indian media gave all credit to the finance minister. Having said that policies were enforced by the World Bank and IMF.
  4. He lead the Govt as PM when his party gave free loans to their friends, when tried to recover the money, all became NPA (18% of total Indian banking assets) and Modi's govt had to work hard to sustain Indian banking,
His govt created policies of free scheme which is going to impact the Indian economy since all parties are announcing free schemes. He was/ is a loyal poodle of the Nehru/ Gandi family.

Was India doing well economically before Modi took over? Simple question.

The US are courting India, they view it as a big market for all sorts of US products, military equipment to FMCG etc. They've also figured that Modi likes the big stage and all that goes with it so they give him what he wants. There's nothing malevolent about it, all countries do research and personality analysis on other heads of state to lay the foundation for deal making.

India has always rolled out the red carpet for POTUS visits too. Just regular diplomacy.

Was India doing well economically before Modi took over? Simple question.
Define 'doing well'

He's not, no matter who was in charge of India they would get this treatment.

The US needs India against China, that's it, there is nothing more to it then that.

The US needs India against China, but the Americans are in for a rude awakening. India won't confront China. Not in a million years. In fact, expect India China trade relations to further increase.

.
By courting Russia's historical strategic partner, the Americans are finally making some ground with India. However America must do more to convince India to decouple from Russia and China.

That's the tunnel vision which lead to disasters for nations. Sitting in camps!

India will not decouple from Russia and even China. There were some hiccups with China in 2020, but pretty soon things will be back to normal with China as well, if not better.

Indo-US partership is for a complete different set of goals for both the nations. US already realizes that and yet hand out the red carpets. China will also realize it soon.

@HerbertPervert

JFK rolls out the red carpet for Ayub Khan and personally receives him at the aircraft.

The Pak of Vikas Purush Ayub Khan was a far more promising country than IND or PRC then. Had his rule continued, PAK would have become the first Asian Tiger (before that term was actually coined). JFK did the smart things.

Regards

Only additional things you missed are India is the 3rd largest PPP (5th largest nominal) country. It is the largest country in the world in terms of population and is a democracy (a miracle). It has one of the most vibrant diaspora which is not only peaceful (pun intended) but also most successful occupying some of highest seats of corporate and political world. It is only now with Modi at helm we are playing to our true potential. World is also recognizing the merit of being our partner. China will realize it too in due course, of course. Looking at the state of Pakistan today, China could already be regretting the side it chose. But I'll let them speak for themselves.

It isn't just because of China. I'll let Pakistanis delude themselves though.
Indian delusion as usual waiting for Chinese appeasement compelled by your "might", lol, Chinese are no fools.

Indian shopping spree at the American arms market and Indian aspirations to challenge One China suggest a different story.

Rad my edit in the post.

I guess you'll also be late to the party like China if you still percieve it as a mere armament deal.

I was born in the US. Yet I do find the Indian inferiority complex against Pakistan to be funny. You guys need psychological help.

Above you can see JFK rolls out the red carpet for Ayub Khan and personally receives him at the aircraft.

We are helping our corporations get access to your markets, using you as a buffer and another front against China. Yet we will let Pakistan keep its nuclear weapons so that it will always be a threat to you. Why do you think the IMF didn't force reduction of funds on strategic programs?
Any person who said that the US president attended the head of state at the airport is basically a naive fool who does not know that it was protocol at that time to receive the de-facto head of state. It has changed over period of time and now people make a show of it.
