I can't figure this one out at all. Zohr is up and running and is the largest gas field in the Mediterranean Sea and from all the data released, it's capable of supplying Egypt and the new cities being built with a surplus


The 2 main stations for gas conversion from natural condensate to LPG and many other forms such as propane and butane etc. are in Damietta and Adco, which just opened up last year and are the only ones in the eastern Mediterranean to have the capacity to make these conversions at the scale that's required for such an investment.

There are also several theories out there as to the political twist to this deal which I'm sure you're aware of. That's what actually makes this whole thing fascinating because everyone knows the largest fields in the Mediterranean (Zohr) belongs to Egypt and so why this deal? The political ramifications will have far reaching consequences and that's where we'll have to keep an eye out as to how that plays out.

This might explain a part of it.. the Egyptian facilities to transform Natural gas are merely operating at 15%-30% of their capacities.. this deal and others will push that to 100%.. but just remember that this is a private venture..

The problem...you can't count on the Cyprus part to hold the conditions of the deal...Since Turkey also "Seek ownership" of that EEZ.

North Cyprus is recognized by Turkey, and defacto, it's part of Turkey.
The NC problem rise in the deal made by south-cyprus( greek cyprus) and Egypt...where the SOuth will have the right to use and gain money thanks to that EEZ WITHOUT giving a share to the North. that's is also something Turkey couldn't accept. it's either all Cyprus citizen who get a share or no one...

This would actually be good news for Egypt, they can now re-export Cyprus gas along with Israel and fully utilize their LNG plants. Egypt has 2 idle LNG plants with around 20 billion cubic meter capacity.
The deal with Israel will only utilize 5-7% of total Egyptian LNG plant .

Egypt will gain revenue from transit fees and liquifying natural gas for exporting and also utilizing it in Egyptian petrochemical industry.

Egypt, Cyprus, Israel and Greece are all on the same page , any discovery in these countries benefits them all . Turkey is completely irrelevant and non of these country care about what Turkey has to say.

And this is what Turkey seek, as being fair or at least "Equal to what others have"

Turkey can seek or see whatever it wants. Doesn't change the actual EEZ and how it is defined and abided by internationally. I can make a map and change the EEZ to my liking, doesn't make it ok.

The main target of this deal and future ones is to turn Egypt into a major Energy hub for gas and oil.
The availability of gas from different sources whether Israel or Cyprus will allow Egypt to fully utilize the 2 LNG plants which will generate major revenue for the Egyptian economy. This will also allow Egypt to utilize its own gas and direct it towards local industry instead of exporting raw Egyptian gas to Europe.

Well that Zohr like gas field is in BLock 6... and Block 6 is in what TR think as it's EEZ...
So yes...it's problematic for Cyprus or any one who made deals with Cyprus...

Turkey will not let it go or pass... it's either they found a common ground or they don't get any...

Well let Turkey deal with European Union, Turkey would collapse if Europe imposes sanctions on it.
As I told you Turkey will have to swallow the bitter pill and no one cares about Turkey it has nothing to offer.

If Turkey behaved from the beginning and avoided antagonizing Egypt by supporting MB and other terror organizations it could have been part of these major development projects.

Many similar problems happen like that...and the different side found a common ground for equal share...instead of blocking billions & billions of dollar for decades...

Cyprus conflict is not Black and White either... Without Turkish intervention back in the days... all Muslims Chypriotes, that were there for hundreds of years will have been thrown out by the greek ones...

Turkey do not say such things as having "ownership on Cyprus", since only 8-9 blocks out of 24 (with only one with gas B6) are said to be on TR EEZ...

This conflict has decades behind her... it's not post-2011...
Whatever TR supported Sissi coup or not...thing will have been the same... it's the same story for decades now...
it' snot like Egypt gonna have power upon Cyprus and Greece to give some of her EEZ to Turkey...

And no, EU will not impose sanctions on TR for this matter, she didn't make a move for decades...not gonna happen now...and even less now..;where TR has the upper hand... with Syrian conflict and her position with RU.
And NO, TR has a lot to offer, like any developed country in the region.

Since as of Today, the Energy hub of the area is Turkey, Half+ of EU gas will pass via Turkey at the end of 2020.
With every energy provider...passing via pipelines in Turkey. (RU-Azeri-Iraq-KRG...)
Even ISrael is thinking of making a pipeline that will connect Turkey and then EU...

This will have impact on Qatar position in LNG market , countries like Saudi Arabia and UAE will be more than happy to increase Egypt LNG capacity through investments if it turns out that this region contains gas reserve comparable to Qatar reserves.

Egypt will be an alternative for EU to diversify their energy sources instead of relying solely on Russia and this will eventually lead to an Egyptian, European and Israeli alliance.

Turkey would also lose its position as an energy hub in the region and it could lead to European companies transferring their investments from Turkey to Egypt in the medium and long run .

This is why Turks and Qataris are barking about Egyptian deal with Israel and future deals with Cyprus.

Not to forget the Egyptian revenues from taxes on the national private companies..

The only one who stands to benefit politically from this move (at least directly) is Bibi, mostly on the domestic level. I find it quite odd to have the prime minister himself announcing such a thing considering the fact that it's largely a business deal between private companies, not state-level transaction. $1.5 billion/year is pocket change compared to state budgets.

it's not about money...it's about legitimacy...
By putting ahead such deal in the Open...
he is saying: "Look, Arabs are with us now, We are part of it, The future is safe/bright for us and we, Israel will play a major (or main role) in the region"

And Egypt is symbolic... after all... Egypt was the enemy...but not anymore... He has a feeling of "victory"
