Jf 17 - designed by Soviet and blueprint sold to Chinese but improvement done bt them in their labs.. Of course, being a primary customer ( PAF), improvement was done accordingly their requirements.

Who cares who designed them. The main thing is that they are operational in large numbers and they are good enough to be exported to many countries. Most of the Indian designed stuff goes directly from the factory to the junkyard. Marut and Sitara are good examples. Could also happen to the Tejas, soon. I understand Modi is itching for surgical strike part 2. Will IAF volunteer the Tejas for the job? JF17 is already battle tested.

the airframe in some cases are seeing defects so it was rumoured after just decade of serviced you see poor alloy cheap airframe.. there is a reason by tejas j10 typhoon gripen Rafale all deploy composites.
you guys went for cheap and speed with Russian engine and third generation airframe

I can explain the mirage 2000 orders they are coming for spares cannalbisation to maintain the 50 mirage2000 we have in service. there is no other option.
it will.take full decade before all 124 Tejas mark1 are in service for this reason we need to keep the 50 mirages flying

Jf17 has better flight performance compared to the tejas, anti shipping capability, composite matetials and improved FBW coming in the blk 3, blk2 is going to be upgraded to blk 3 specs, significantly better a2a weaponry and a2g weaponry. The jf17 doesnt have huge amounts of drag nor does it have problems with turning.

simply we had zero experience and zero infrastructure to even.attempt to build a modern fighter... in 1990.
we were reliant on imports and could not afford western fights in bulk so made to with Russian systems though cheaper and reliable ally they have maintenance issues and in some critical areas were behind western technology esp radars and missles and cockpit fusion.
we were saddled with vintage mig fleet over 500 mig21 23 27 and 29 ...
in comparison to these,migs our tejas feels like a space ship....
gone high maintenance engines
gone hydraulic cables gears,etc
switches cumbersome flight controls
Tejas has taken us to the elite level.very very few countries can.develope a modern fighters or indeed helicopter at home...

Tejas has spawned the dhruv helicopter the light attack helicopter the mark.2 and eventually Amca.

We don't need any body now we do it at home
And replacing mig 21 bison to Tejas must be amazing to be a young indian pilot now

Wtf are you talking about? You had license production to manufacture the folland gnat since the 50s and 60s. You even built your own hal marut and fielded it in the 70s. You didnt have 0 experience of building a jet. The fact it took 35 years to come up with this mess is atrocious. Its not a milestone. Its an embarrassment

Yeah After Rafale Tejas is best design because it was design and develop France, F16 is one of the most elegant so does MKI, Teas is more or less straight forward design with no new innovations (in design term)

And @The Maverick and @Surya 1 are the spammer, that India has that tech, India develop that tech and at last west gave then that specific tech
