I know few about handcrafts, AFAIK, tourists, esp women most likely are interested in handcrafts, if you're interested in sell handcrafts to Chinese, I would suggest you first approach Chinese merchants in Pakistan to have a look at the samples or invite them to visit bazaar,
I'm not a businessman, so this is only what I can comment.

I do not think there is any market in US. They will prefer Mexican.

Foreigners can open a taobao store on their own name, but the language obstacle, cultural difference，domestic logistic，customers after sales server are also need to be considered more important. It is not very convenient for a foreigner to do.
So, i think, it is better to find a parter of China to have a cooperation and help you.
I have several of the taobao acount, it is Leisured, not used. Everybody who without the taobao acount, we can have a partnership. I purchase from you, resell it in my demestic market.
