Americans view the gun more as a political issue than as a weapon. Political as in the last line of defense against a tyrannical government, not for self defense.

Self defense is a natural response to threat. It is quite a natural right. But resisting a tyrannical government is not always possible, especially if the citizenry have no means. So the American Founding Fathers secured that mean via the Second Amendment that basically say the government cannot infringe the citizenry from being armed. In other words, the right to own weapons is beyond the US government. That is actually a radical idea. Past civilizations have their citizenry armed before, but the US Constitution effectively said the right to bear arms is greater than the government. The National Rifle Association (NRA) is just a convenient face for a truly vast gun lobby which is essentially every adult American capable of using a pistol and/or a rifle.

I will kill the gun lobby by making the need to lobby no longer needed. It also solves the problem of random massive shootings too. The fed should give a gun to every willing capable adults, trainings, and perpetual reviews of their right of owning such weapons. It will make the potential shooter think twice and could quickly stop the shotting. It's the solution based on the idea 'If you can't beat them, join them'. Now that's Sun Tzu tactics.

What you do not understand, despite being in the US, is that if you own a gun, you are automatically your own gun lobby. Actually, you do not even need to own a gun. As long as you support the idea that is the foundation of the Second Amendment, you are yourself a gun lobby.

My intention is not to take a jab at anyone but the way things are going on America, they should have at least 6 armed trained guards in all schools, pubs/cafe & Superstore. Two at the entrance and four inside. They will be able to control this menace.

If you read English correctly, you need to read 'being necessary to the security of a free State' as the condition to the right to bear arms. So am going to translate it for you...

The militia is not the standing army. The militia is the people's army or the citizenry's armed force or a guerrilla force in times of war. The militia is not meant to be an expeditionary force. It is the last line of defense of any threat, external and/or internal. The militiaman does not have to be formally trained as in Basic Training in the standing army, although, such training and formal military experience would be helpful.

The words 'well regulated' does not mean formal written laws and guides as in the standing army. The words mean the militia members must be able to obey orders when necessary, know how to use weapons under authority when necessary, and possess sufficient personal discipline to work with each other.

So when we put the two criteria together, the people and their State would be free of tyranny. The words 'the State' here are broad in scope. The words were intended to mean the people's freedoms and rights, and their federated States which are political entities whose governments are supposed to express and legally protect those freedoms and rights.

But in order for the militia to be able to be called upon in short order to create an armed response to threats, the individual militiamen must be armed or have access to weapons. As such, the people's ability to be armed and have access to weapons shall now be elevated to a 'right'. Not a 'permission' which implies a greater power who can take away that permission. But that of a 'right' which cannot be separated from the individual which comprises 'the people', and that there is no greater power than the individual regarding this right.
