Yes. The Indian Maoists ( also called "Naxalites" from the village - Naxalbari - where the revolt started ) identify with the armed revolution of the Chinese Maoists.

How can communism be dead when it has not arrived yet??

Communism is the terminal state of socialist thought among humanity where governments have fallen, militaries have been disbanded and people rule themselves.

The last underlined part was present in the former Libyan Jamahiriya ( through direct-democracy ) until NATO brought "democracy" to it.

May I add that if "communism" should ominous, all "communist" and "socialist" societies until now have been living experiments, with some happy with their current state and some desiring the terminal state called "communism".

The opposite of Communism is Nationalism. Now I don't know if Rabindranath Tagore ever admired communism but he certainly criticized nationalism, especially for India.

You say Taliban are terrorist, but Union of Soviet Socialist Republics slaughtered the largest number of people in the 20th century under Stalin. Exactly nationalism is opposite of communism...not single country today embraces communist idea in its purest form...bcoz it was tried tested and the results were awful...which lead to darkest ages of modern human history!
So...communism and communists need to be destroyed!! By carrying weapons and killing the innocent they are making the job easier...

Here its more about occupation, colonization in short process of settling among and establishing control over the indigenous people of a nation and nationalism means defending the nationhood and fight the colonizers.

My brother in law is a contractor & 10 years back when he was doing any projects in naxal areas, he would have to pay around 30% of the total project cost to the naxals. In some cases, the amount was in crores and there are hundreds of such projects happening in naxal affected areas at that same.

Sad thing was this whole setting used to happen in presence some local politicians.

In my post# 25 on page 2 I have agreed that the Naxals have a mixed morality about how their ideology operates in the real world. The article I quoted there is from 2001 and it speaks of the Naxals doing business with the timber businesses in the forests they control.

Talks will go nowhere , the ppl who will give in are cornered members & villagers who don't care either way , ppl will do anything for money , ie the prominent ones there are making too much money to give up & run , you can't negotiate with a underground market . The solution is actively take on their organizations & increase the infrastructure in the region , half the reason they operate is because they live in secluded villages and dense Forrests. We lack intel on the region's criminal activities
