11,000 Sindhi, Sikh migrants in Indore to get citizenship

It’s time for celebration, as 11000 city-based Sindhis and Sikhs, who migrated from Pakistan and Afghanistan prior to December 31, 2009, get Indian citizenship.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has reduced the minimum stay period of migrants of both countries from 7 years to 2.6 years. The orders in this regards were issued on Friday.

The Narendra Modi-led BJP Government has given this gift to over 1 lakh migrant Sindhis (Hindus) and Sikhs by granting them Indian citizenship, who completed 2.6 years of stay in India.

General Secretary of Sindhi Samaj, Indore (Regd) Prakash Parwani said that over 11000 of both the communities, residing in the city, got the benefit.

Out of them, 6,000 have already completed 7 years stay in India while the rest 5000 have completed 2.6 years of stay in Indore (India).

Parwani further said that local leaders of the Sindhi community had been doing efforts for long. After, change of power at Centre, a delegation of the local Sindhi leaders led by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on July 24 and 25, respectively, in New Delhi.

The delegation acquainted both the leaders about the problems being faced by these people. The announcement made by MHA on Thursday is considered to be the outcome of those efforts.

It is to be noted that the Government of India on November 13, 2014 gave a number of concessions to Hindu and Sikh refugees from Pakistan and Afghanistan. The govt also relaxed procedure for granting them Indian citizenship.

Rajnath Singh approved the proposal for manual acceptance of applications for granting Indian citizenship to minority community nationals of Pakistan and Afghanistan, who entered India prior to December 31, 2009.

Narendra Modi, during poll campaigning in West Bengal and Rajasthan, said that Pakistani and Bangladeshi Hindu refugees would be treated like Indian citizens if he became Prime Minister.

One lakh in country get benefit

There are about one lakh minority community refugees from Pakistan and Afghanistan living in India. While approving the concessions, the Home Minister directed the Foreigners Division of his ministry that the grievances of these applicants should be addressed.

The move came two months after the Ministry okayed the setting up of a task force to monitor and expedite the process of the citizenship and Long Term Visa (LTV) applications of such persons.

Why not allow Pakistani Christians and Muslims too..? Even they are killed over there regularly. Why not grant citizenship to Bangladeshis as well?
Why not make India the abode of every troubled community in the entire world? We are a secular country, we don't differentiate on the basis of religion, right?

This is what is baffling, they are Pakistanis, irrespective of their religion, and should have been sent back. What is the basis to grant citizenship to these people in the constitution? No-where in the part II of the constitution is there any provision to grant citizenship to any foreign national just because they moved here and don't want to go back.

We need to learn looking at the matters without the glasses of religion. This is not how the establishment works.

They need to work and earn if they are here. We wont feed them for free just because they are Hindus and have come from Pakistan. People in India are poor, they work hard, live in tough conditions and then build themselves up. Those Pakistani Hindus need to do the same.

Muslims have got the country on the name of religion so no question to grant them citizenship. Christians may be granted. If we start giving citizenship to Muslims, there will be a huge rush fro migration.

Constitutionally we are a secular country but culturally we are a Hindu country. Muslims have their own country on the name of religion we they have the laws like Blasphemy. Hindus do not have any country of their own so where shall they go if tortured in other radical Islamic country only because they follow other religion. There are 100+ christian nations and 55+ islamic nations , while there is only one nation for hindus,sikhs and dharmics which is Bharat and only one jewish nation Israel.
We gave asylum to those who didn't have any country like Jews,parsis,tibetians.
While the christians and Muslims you mentioned have a wide array of options to choose from and seek asylum in the rest of those countries as told above.
Which country will give asylum to dharmic religions ? Only India will not others.
So why this hypocrisy of constitution and secularism?
When there 155+ nations where these christian and islamic groups can seek asylum?

Bharat is still secular because the majority who are Sanatana Dharma followers like Hindus,sikhs,buddhists, jains are secular due to their religious values.
Once they decide we had enough of secularism then no force on earth can stop them from discarding secularism like a used tissue paper.

Secularism runs in India because the majority hindus chose to be secular, not because the minority chose to be get that into your brain. so,appreciate the fact that we are not doing the same to our minorities like what pakistan and bangladesh is doing to them.now, the minorities are still safe in India compared to those nations and we dont have blasphemy laws and lynch someone on the spot just on mere fatwa of a mullah.

I was telling from the start this fascist modi would doom the country but people didn't listen to me. These Pakistani Hindus should have been sent back; maybe their daughters would be kidnapped and converted; but who cares. At least our precious secularism would have remained intact
