$10bn Rafale deal not final yet: German leader

I give my sincere congratulations to Indian Air Force/Naval Air Arm (Who is suppose to operate these?).

You have entered the World's Guinness book for records for the most lengthy deal negotiations in Human History. (Meant as a joke do not mean to offend anybody).

We waiting for more and more deal sweeteners. Ultimately it was the performance in Libya, that mattered i guess.

Well I am sure this has been discussed to death over and over again but i goes down to what capability exactly the IAF is seeking.

If they seek a complete all around Multi-role jack of all trade master of none then by all mean anything other than the Rafale is an atrocious decision. Because for Instance in the RSAF's case they were after an Air Superiority fighter first and foremost and thus the Typhoon seemed like the logical choice.

The reasons why the EF was shortlisted can only be the projected capability of a T3B and the industrial offers, which were as important as the operational advantages of the fighters.
The T3B is meant to be a more multi role capable fighter as well, with Storm Shadow cruise missiles for deep strikes as well. However, since none of the new capabilities are developed yet, let alone even funded by any partner nation, it was clearly the worse choice for India, because we already have our air superiority fighters with MKI / Super 30 and FGFA in future.

Btw, this competition was for IAF only, IN has another evaluation, where EF, Rafale, Gripen, F18SH, Mig 29K were offered.

whether rafale or typhoon. Germany will be in profit both ways. 30+% share in Dassault is german.

That's not correct, the share belongs to EADS, which is equally lead by German and French shareholders (with some minor Spanish shares too) and the only profit would be, if the Dassault Aviation shares would increase their value, otherwise there is no relation.

.
126 planes in 10 Billion$ with ToT impossible. I think this deal will get cancel on financial grounds.

Ignorance of some people. I have gone in to detail before to prove how wrong this viewpoint is so I'll not do it today. All I'll say is the current MMRCA program is barely 5 years old and for a procurment of this type and complexity that is some achievment.

+ the German is merely stating a fact- until the ink is on the paper the deal is not final. However I have no doubt this FY the MMRCA deal will be signed with Dassualt.

.
Its more likely that the negotiators are trying to figure out, lets see if we can get more goodies.

Diplomat - "Ok Ramu, tell the newspaper guy we have not yet signed the deal"
Ramu to newsman - "The deal is not signed"
Newsman - "The deal is not being signed"

I love our diplomats:chilli:

yeah thats what I said. because in Dassault EADS has 46% share . Plus main Design and manufacturing of dassault is done by some Belgian company under dasaults subsidiary which further contains 22% german shares and technology. lol
Not as much as Typhoon but Germany is going to get good amount.

.
In selection stage ..........many Eminent Philosophers were Lambasting the Deal will be done with America---F16 will be the Winner. India Cant say --No to USA nor does it have the Guts......

Then some Greater Souls starting Preaching Rafale will not sign the deal with India.....India is a Banana Republic to select Rafale.
Buggers IAF has 603 selection parameters which were evaluated by 3 Independent Teams.

Country's Like KSA should stick to their Guns....We are not interested in your Opinion nor Need them -- Thank you.

Now some Gods are Showering....The DEAL WILL BE Cancelled---Take my Word.....Sunny Jims IAF is not a Faggot, we have a reputation and stick to it.

Look-forward to Rafale Del being signed for IAF and IN following suitf

No wonder we are proceeding to sign 1.4Bn Deal for LongBow
No wonder Govt of India has given approval for Highspeed rail coridors
No Wonder BSE SENSEX iS tOUCHING 18,000 mark
No Wonder India Still is Highest Consumer of Gold
No Wonder we loaned Bangalesh USD 500Mn
No wonder we are not Begging World Bank for Loan.

Rupee has falled due to Cash Flow imbalance of 90K Cr rupees. Which can be easily contraled if Govt of India pushed Pension saving of 125 Lakh Cr But they dont want to take Risks.

By the Way BSF budget in FY 2012-2013 is 2Bn Dollars more than Total Expendture on BANGLADESH Military Combined.

Flawed argument, 10 billion dollars was the amount which was initially estimated when the RFI was floated around 2007 or so, this amount was bound to increase as the deal took some years. Also no one said that 10 billion dollars also include the money for TOT (it was just the total cost of 126 aircrafts) as the TOT amount depended on the fighter being selected & the TOT terms & conditions . I think the deal will be around $ 15 to $ 18 billions (TOT included). If finance was a concern than IAF would never have gone for 2 most costliest aircrafts out of 6 to make the final cut (ET & Rafale). I guess IAF was for the first time told to just select the best aircraft for the service & leave financial issues to be handled by the GOI.
