Unfortunately the opposite is true mate.. Rapid spread of Wahhabism and other forms fundamentalist Islam and Arabic culture in almost all Muslim communities across the globe.. Once well integrated peaceful communities self segregating themselves from the wider society and often agitating against the societal strata they have for millennia lived in harmoniously, Like demanding Sharia law etc.. Proliferation of archaic foreign customs like the strict Arabic dress code for women like the 'Burka started since just a decade and half ago is one of the reasons for growing distrust and conflict in places between Muslims and other communities in hitherto peaceful countries before, Well established Muslims communities with their own distinct culture

Maybe living in a Majority Muslim nation one wont see the damage this is doing to the wider society in non Muslim majority countries, But unfortunately it is increasing and not for the better

Actually there is reverse movement among moderate muslim in indonesia, to give a new light about Islam and strife separation of religion from politics. As you can see, since our Independence there is no single Muslim party won the elections, all of them is secular, Nationalist party. And till this day only one President of Indonesia had cleric background, but he is far from being a conservative, he is much lean toward Liberal and secular in leadership (just check Abdurrahman Wahid aka Gus Dur).

Still not true at all at least in Pakistan's case I dunno about other muslim countries but in Pak conservative parties have never been hugely popular or supported by the majority. Burka has only over been worn by a minority of women it's more the opposite trend actually fashion,TV , movie and social media industry has boomed in recent years and women are at the forefront .Pakistani women in recent years have even started to participate in beauty contests- you are probably basing this on what the biased western media shows you with no real life experiences of Pakistan.
You also forget that Pakistan is both ethnically and religiously diverse we are ove 220 million people- aside from being nearly 1/3 shia,with 3-4 million christians it has one of the largest and fastest growing hindu populations in the world 4.5+ million currently and will stabilise as the country with the 4th largest Hindu population if you think most of their women follow wahhabism and wear Burka you are seriously mistaken. Heck This video in itself made by a Pakistani women counters this propaganda.
