MBDA has successfully completed firing trials ofMeteor, the missile that will be carried by the Dassault Rafale, Eurofighter Typhoon and Saab Gripen, and the company is now preparing to start production. The collaborative effort by six European nations has been nine years in development but has produced a beyond visual range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) that is “vastly superior to anything else in the market,” according to chief engineer Andy Bradford.

When it received the development contract at the end of 2002, MBDA was set the task of producing a missile with a “no escape zone” that was larger than any other AAM, specifically the Raytheon AIM-120 AMRAAM. This has been achieved by combining a clever boost-ramjet propulsion system with an active radar seeker derived from MBDA’s Aster and Mica missiles.

According to Bradford, control of the propulsion system gives the Meteor a decisive edge. He explained that compared to current medium-range AAMs, the booster on Meteor is smaller but the missile sustains a high cruise speed throughout the intercept sequence, and may even accelerate as it closes on the target

Nice... now we can safely say that a deal will be done soon. Why it took this long for Rafale to realize they need to keep some buffer on top to pay backhander?:undecided:

Upgrade Mirage to UAE standard and upgrade su30mki with AESA radar and save money for pakfa

.
India's total defence budget for 2013-2014 was around $36 billion and India is purchasing only 126 planes for around $30 billion.

Something is not right here. Either there's unprecedented amount of corruption on the Indian side with this deal or the French are taking advantage of India.

Years, Years wasted on for choosing medium multi role fighter, resulted in the form of increase in price every year, wages, salaries of labor, cost of product, everything is increased with time, You will get end product twice or thrice more than of original price. 2003 or 2005 was the best time for this deal.

India's procurement policies have been a nuisance - I would put the blame on Anthony here who was more interested in a clean chit image for himself rather than thinking about what needs to be done - wasted 5 years because of him.

western tech with tot is not cheap go be happy to fly made in china jets "Beggars are Not choosers"

you need to tone down, PAF operates American, French and Chinese jets. They know more about western tech than us.
