Dating back to the eleventh century, the History of Bhopal states its origin when Raja Bhoj built a city called Bhojpal. Later it was rebuilt by Dost Mohammed,an afghan soldier
  1. Islamnagar served as the State's first capital, which was later shifted to the city of Bhopal. The state was founded by Dost Mohammad Khan, an Afghan soldier in the Mughal army who became a mercenary after the Emperor Aurangzeb's death and annexed several territories to his feudal territory.

There are 35% of Urdu Speakers who trace their Heritage from Pashtuns but are Culturally Urdu Speakers like A.Q. Khan, Niamatullah Khan Eshratul Ibad Khan etc. These people are called Indian Yousufzais in Karachi and they feel more Comfortable among Urdu Speakers rather then Pashtuns in Karachi.

I was going through some stuff on the internet early in the day and came across one of the most hilariously sophisticated visions of why we must not make fun of Pathans.

Their history goes a long way back and even today it is mostly just them who have given back to the country as much as the country has given them.

Imran Khan & AQ Khan are not Pathan ..............

Thanks for the info and my grand father was Pathan too from Siwan, Bihar.

My in-laws are also Yousuf Zai Pathan from Jamshedpur, Bihar :woot:

Oh jeez, not another Pathan feel good thread; its insulting to see that some people need affirmation about themselves.
The Pathans have a rich history just as any other race in Pakistan, they have suffered most due to this recently conflict but that is no reason for the sudden apologies that come out by adolescent PTI supporters.

Imran Khan & AQ Khan are not Pathan ..............
AQ Khan is Muhajir or Urdu Speaking or in other words what we use to call "Indian Yousuf Zai" here in Karachi while Imran Khan is Niazi Pathan and AFAIK Niazis are more closer to Punjabis then Pathans from Tribal Areas.

Even if Pashtuns were useless people with zero contribution and importance, racist jokes would have been still dis-tasteful and condemnable. Infact i condemn every vulgar joke, islam forbids us to make fun of people........ In Quran Allah says,
“O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group, it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor let (some) women scoff at other women, it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. How bad is it to insult one’s brother after having Faith”

[al-Hujuraat 49:11]

Ibn Katheer said in his Tafseer: “What is meant here is looking down on them, belittling them or making fun of them. This is haraam .

Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azeez (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “Fear joking, for it is folly and generates grudges.”

@Yousafzai_M
Are you an indian/urdu speaking pathan?

I was against Pathan jokes....But

a pathan friend of mine while driving with his family from lahore to islamabad, took the exit near kalar kahar, met someone and got back on motorway, one side of car was suddenly happy that my friend has done something which has changed the direction of sunlight irritating them in the summers, my friend who had recently returned from UK was laughing his *** of when he was witnessing signboards mentioning distance of Lahore while going to Islamabad, he even took the photos of the sign boards, once my friend reached Kala Shah Kaku he realized he had been travelling in the opposite direction (i.e., coming back to lahore)

Since then the pathan jokes are back on

Pathan and Sikh jokes have historical background. The urdu adbi halqa under mughals came up with it to tone down the terror of these two nations, Delhi was neither safe from Sikhs nor Rohillas/Afghans in 18th century. Mughals in that period didnt have spirit of timur or babur, they had degenerated and had lost the virtues and character. A weak would not fight with sword against his enemy but with words so mughals and their subjects were at later stages were either cracking such jokes in their mehfils, were either watching mujras or doing useless poetry.

Dont you think too much Obsession of Pashtuns with their Tribal Lifestyle and their very old tribal code of Conduct could be another reason for those Jokes as well.
