Point is BD will be unable to sell any of its products in large quantities to Indian NE. The sly India wants to use BD land and water to transport its goods there from the central part of India. By the way, which Indian company will be getting of contract for building the pylons? It will certainly not be a non-Indian company.

Even if the credit materializes, it will be to benefit Indian companies, who will bring in the steel angles/pipes and others frIndia and erect them in BD. This is the reason I do not usually think BD is developing. If a development project does not give jobs to the BD steel and cement companies or a local construction company, I do not think that development project benefits BD. Non-involvement of local companies makes BD to go one step ahead, but three steps back. All the money goes back to the lender nation.

We do not want any Indian credit that discourages the development of our own engineers and technicians. The present project is such that the design of all the transmission towers, their supply and construction will be done in India and by the Indians. So, what is there to develop our own know how?

Even the miser government of India will request the GoB to allow its trucks to deliver the angles well inside BD. All these crafty means are to take back almost all the money away to India. Indians, who will be working in BD will even bring their rations of rice and Cheera from India, who knows!!

I will put the question otherway around...Hasina is your problem..Not India's issue. If BD does not recognize India's sentiment then it is not our problem. How we treat our citizen is none of BD issue. In the same way, how BD treat Hindus of BD is not India's problem...Now, it is upto BD is they like the way, India operates or they have the option to cancel the loan.

One problem with Hasina is that she has a weak spot for India due to family history. If she did not, India would have had to show BD more respect in order to get the vital assistance that it has gotten from BD since AL game into power.
Hasina will almost certainly not be in power for the term after the next election to be held this year(AL will easily win as BNP are crap), and then even if we had another AL government it will not be led by Hasina. Then India will have to show BD respect and offer more tangible benefits in order for BD to keep working against NE militants(they will spring up again once a neighbouring country turns a blind eye) and for BD to keep the vital connectivity with the NE open.

At the end of the day once BD is sufficiently economically and militarily powerful(2025-2030), BD will be the party with more power as it does not need India but India needs it. Understood?

8.5 billion US dollars over 20 years is not enough. Try tens of US billions and allowing BD to export many billions of dollars every year.

This 8.5 US billion dollars will be taken now purely because Hasina is in power.

Why does BD need India? It borders the sea and is not landlocked.

You figure out wheather you need to trust India or not. Basically, if India gets benifit out of the transit deal of electricity then India will allow it...In international diplomacy, there is nothing called trust or emotional religion love....If the deal is good, India will accept it...If not, India will not...It is the same way, if BD gets good deal from India, go for it, otherwise, you can make your own choice to not to do business with INDIA...
