Err....no money.....! The UPA government had pretty much exhausted the coffers by 2013 & were already in the creative accounting mode. There was no chance of any purchase regardless of what the IAF might have wanted
Err.....what exactly is the reality check here?
I have no particular issues with the cartoons, even though two of them are in poor taste (the first more so). The one of the elephant on the track was NYT's commentary on the Paris talks & no one can really take issue with that even if the idea...
The same guy wrote the other story. The intention here is pretty clear, try & provoke a reaction from the GoI. This is not a story written blindly, it is a directed story with some pushing by US officials.
The Indian Express reported Thursday that security agencies had confirmed that Irfan’s son Sanaul Haq was the chief of AQIS

Do you seriously think that the ruling party was shouting down it's minister?
This is what happens when people who haven't a clue of what has been happening want to get their two bits in.
Don't talk through your hat. The parliament has not been allowed to function for pretty much this whole session as well as the last one by the opposition who are disrupting it on a continuous basis. Sushma Swaraj spoke through the din, the noise had very little to do with her or her speech.
There are two conceivable points he could be making -
# that he was pushing for an offensive strategy rather than an defensive one
# That he was looking at equipping the soldiers better to help skew the ratio by providing them with better protection and/or weapons..
Actually, he is on the INS Vikramaditya for the Combined Commanders Conference (also called the Unified Commanders’ Conference) which is an annual tri-services event. It is the first time that it is being held outside of Delhi based on the PM's suggestion .
I see nothing in the Indian HC's position as being particularly inflammatory either. He was stating the official position of the GoI. The rest of your post is you insisting that you alone have the right to decide what is inflammatory & what you think is justifiable. I disagree. Little point in...
We were talking of inflammatory statements, I made my point.
The same then holds for the Indian position as reiterated by the High Commissioner.
It simply does not matter. Provoking public sentiments gets you into this cycle. The Indian High Commissioner did what Pakistani officials have...
The Pakistani side does not get to decide what constitutes potentially inflammatory remarks in India while insisting that any Indian reiteration of its position is somehow excessive. The Hurriyat meetings have caused two sets of talks to collapse. Regardless of what you think are symbolic &...
Nope. Will never be agreed to.
Hurriyat leaders meet Pak HC
This may be a reiteration of the stated Pakistani position but if Pakistan thinks nothing of inflaming public sentiments in India, then they should have no issues if the same is done by the Indian side.
Not really. There will be no territorial concessions. What will be discussed, if that , are elements of the Musharraf-MMS formula which had discussions on additional autonomy & possible freer movement of people in both sides of Kashmir.
As far as inflaming public sentiments goes, maybe you...
Exactly. That's the fun part of discussing Kashmir.
On a serious note, Kashmir will not seriously be discussed in any formal manner except for deciding on & working out CBM's. The discussions, if any, will be carried out through unofficial channels alone. Official channels will merely reiterate...
Whether we get somewhere or not will largely depend on what Pakistan thinks can be legitimately achieved in these talks. Pipe dreams are a no-no.
As far as the HC's statement goes, it is the Indian position & the possible reason for stating it as clearly is that the Pakistani HC in India is up...
