As i said, you are comparing apples and oranges. I sound like a broken record. I explained the Sunnah method of establishing Ramzan, which you conveniently disregarded. You are abolishing the Sunnah of moon sighting in favour of lunar calculations. Seems like stopping to me. Witness testimony...

Chand dheaki k maslay per NASA ka jawab

The method you are proposing does not involve sighting the moon but rather lunar calculations without physical moon sighting. Is that your argument? The Sunnah method has been very clearly defined as 1) Physical Moonsighting or Witness testimony 2) completion of 30 days The above are...

Eidul Fitr to be celebrated in KP on Tuesday, provincial govt announces

Agreed. It is. Problem is that until there is strong legislation (with severe punishment for violators), such people will still exploit the system. We should bring strong legislation with punishment for violators. Declaration of Eid/Ramzan is the solely the purview of the state.

I am all in favour of such a legislation. To put this issue to bed once and for all.

Though you have the right to any opinion, i will remind you that Islam does not “force” anything upon us. But if we are Muslims were are supposed to follow the practices established by Sunnah. We are obligated to follow these practices. The Prophet(PBUH) has left his Sunnah for us to follow...

Eidul Fitr to be celebrated in KP on Tuesday, provincial govt announces

No it has nothing to do with Pashtun nationalism and more to do with Deobandi vs Barelvi sectarianism. This is coming from a Pashtun who has argued at length with his own kith and kin in KP over the issue.

I understand where you are coming from. But to stop false claims of moon sighting, we should stop those people that do so. Do note that the science you pin your hopes on to unite us on this issue will only further serve to divide us. Hence it will be counter productive. I totally understand...

Chand dheaki k maslay per NASA ka jawab

Stating something without providing a logical argument is what’s actually “false”. I did not argue that Islam does not encompass all. I said those things did not have a bearing on a “religious obligation “. Please understand what i am saying before claiming something. I would advise you to...

They have no choice. It is not permissible to fast when the people around you (the majority) are celebrating Eid. However misguided(or guided even) they may be .

I agree. Here the egos ruin everything. I also agree with the Saudi method. Invite witnesses from all over the country and decide at a central point(Ministry of Religious Affairs) . But their system works in the absence of any other sect of notice inside Saudi Arabia. Also note that both Mufti...

This is part of my point too. Moon sighting has not been proved to be an invalid methodology even in modern times apart from Pakistan, where religion is an egotistical issue rather than a spiritual one.

I already explained the invalidity of this example. Travelling in automobiles , cellular phone usage , toilets have no bearing on obligations of the religion. Sighting the moon has a bearing on a religious obligation. You are comparing apples and oranges and using that to further your argument.

My reply was to Agnostic Muslim about the simplest solution. I have discussed the rest of your post at length. Please refer to my discussion. You cannot associate a culture/social/economic/progression issue with religious issues. Travelling on foot has no bearing on religion neither does...

Sure. I am not opening a thread on whether Hadeeth constitute the Sunnah. This is a fact backed by all schools of thought. It is a basic concept of Islam. That is enough for me. Have a nice day and subsequent Eid as well. Cheers.

Sunnah is to follow the Hadeeth about it . I have no idea why simple sighting of the moon is undesirable and scientific methods to replace them are desirable. Calculations are permitted, to assist in determination of Ramzan. Same way as binoculars.

No it means Obeying Allah through His words in the Quran and the Prophet (PBUH) through his Sunnah. This is a topic already established, you can read interpretations of this from whoever you please. You cannot obey the Prophet (PBUH) if you do not have his commands and examples from his life...
