Wiki may not be very reliable. Anyway,i retake my previous statement, those things are certainely not on the same level as our BNS osman. They seem to have no CIWS or any point blank defence system like the FM-90.
It is a very good platform but the main issue is that Bangladesh navy has no real experience with Submarines, the last thing we would want to do is buy those Agostas and an accident will occur.Buying second hand will allow us to have experience and won't be as expensive if ay such failures...
Those ships of theirs is on the same level of our BNS Osman. They have no ship which is on par with our Ulsan class and soon we will also have two powerful, upgunned WHECS from the US and soon we will have subs. We can then divert more attention to our Air force.
There too expensive right now and there are no second hand options but if we got with type 209, we may go with U-214 after 2020. Also it would be more sensible to have training subs for now and buy proper subs after 2020 since i know that 2 more will be bought then and the Yuan is being considered.
Theres still no official confirmation on types of Subamrines. But U-214 is out of the Question. As of now it's likely 2 Mings or Songs or turkish/South korean Type 209.
You are right about us not getting any figther jets using the $1 billion loan since most of it will be used for the yak 130s.
Have we already get to receive Mig-29Ms??2 billion does not sound realistic for 40 Mig 29Ms especially if the have AESA radars.
What about the Upgrades for our current...
Different variants are bought because each variant provides a different capability and more suited to it. For patrol we bought Ruags and for ASW we are buying Z-9C.
More helicopters will be bought later since this fiscial year will be used to buy MRLS and transport planes for troops.
Yes,then why allocate Obsolete Interceptors to act as maritame patrol craft? Not only will it waste resources looking after them,we could use those extra resources for newer figthers or a lot more Maritame craft like more RUAGs or actual attack helicopters or CAS aircraft for the Army or possibly...
Sorry again,my bad wording. I meant as in a naval air force like Naval figthers and aircraft carriers not as in ships.
Using retired and outdated F-7MB will be expenisve and not helpful for any sceanario. Also a naval air force requires mutiple landing and take off platform ships away from...
The BG series was bought even before BAF considered to buy new generation jets(bought in 2006 way before any rumour of us buying FC-1 or J-10).They are not stop-gap measures however the BGI are
"I don't understand why they want to retire F-7MB, it's not old yet. If they wish to upgrade the...
Understandable. However MBT-2000 was bought due to the fact that the Yatagan(Not oplot)has certain problems operating in our environment.F-7BG was bought before we annouced that we were getting 4.5 generation figthers in 2011(the air marshal stated the order will Materlise in 5-10 years so we...
Try understand the general Public of Bangladesh first. New procurements are side news in newspapers, they don't make big headlines. Why?Thats because majority of Bangladesh don't give a damn about military equipment.I could go to Bazaar and ask if anyone knows what weapons do our Migs...
Thats true but we already operate migs so we have russian avionics and russian weapons. So if we stuck to those birds the short term cost will be cheaper but with gripen and F-16,we need to buy a whole new set of weapons and avionics and training is also different so in the short term it will...
Only russian jets are in consideration as of now due to western jets being to expensive(considereing purchase prices, maintenance, spare parts, weapons, avionics).
FC-1 is out due to it using a russian engine and since we going to get YAK-130s,i don't think the russians will be too happy with the...
I wish this should be stressed enough. F-7BGI were only bought as a STOP-GAP jet until we can allocate necassery funds and budgets to purchase 4th generation aircraft. Buying older f-16s would mean we would have to adapt to different avionics, weapons and training which requires more money! Those...
There is nothing wrong with the JF-17s/FC-1 capability but the only problem with export is that it uses either russian engines or newly designed chinese engine. Problem with russian engine is that that same engine is used in the MIG-29 which means the FC-1 can divert sales away from Russia...
