I said that BD can afford 12 subs by 2025 if it really wanted to.

The raw cash would be there but it would not be a good idea as then there would be less money for other areas like the air-force.

You are welcome for me to use statistics to illustrate this to you if you lack in this area.



I am sure that China copied/pasted the J-20.

Too many Indians think just because they cannot progress in technology, then others cannot.

why will India go war with BD ??????? we don't have that much considerable disputes with each other... invading BD or going war with BD gives any advantage a big NO.... coming to minimal deterrence against, that's your interest we got nothing to do with you.... but building military against India will cause disturbance.. because BD is surrounded by India.....

As I said minimum deterrence is necessary. It will not have a distabalising effect. Both countries know one another's respective capabilities. Our posture is defensive. You will simply realign yours and life will move on. Minimum deterrence capability by Bangladesh will not be considered aggressive move by you. India has strategic depth vis-a-vis Bangladesh and we have no territorial disputes.

But what it will do is that it will remove Bangladeshs insecurity about indias intentions. If bangladesh feels confident about its sovereignty issues like transshipment becomes mere economics. A militarily capable Bangladesh helps indo-Bangladesh relationship in other sphere.

If BD is willing to dump its ego and let PAF train Bengali pilots on Jf-17s [Which would be a must if they buy it anyway] i am sure many of them could see themselves studying at CCSS Combat Commanders School Sargodha [old BAF pilots are still nostalgic about it] , those who know the school know what would those pilots become after graduation.

There is absolutely no ego issue from Bangladesh perspective from receiving training in Pakistan. Bangladesh and Pakistan regularly trains each other in differing things already and have done so for many years. The waffle of the politicians have little relevance in BD military developing and maintaining contact with other military.

In terms of the JF17 I am no expert in military tech but what I understand seems good and affordable and there is a degree of assurance that in times of conflict Pakistan will not withhold support. The only issue is that it is a new product and as such no service history. Anyhow from what people say it is under consideration and I do not doubt that Bangladesh will make a decision after full consideration. Despite what people belive military purchases by Bangladesh really has little to do with politicians political bent. Bangladesh military understands our economic situations and make demands in private and politicians accomodates. Mig purchases under previous BAL government contrary to popular belief was requested by the airforce. It was the preferred choice given affordability. Not saying BAL did not take a backhander but they did not make the choice.

Again I am no expert in military field but if JF17 is chosen I hope Bangladesh considers going in big with full tech transfer so that we can start to build them ourselves. There is no country who would consider such an offer to Bangladesh and if as I read the BAF wants to take baby steps to developing indiginious capability then this may solve two issues in one go.

for now they are prosecuting anything that even had/has a remote pakistani connection.
other options are mig 29,j-10,su30,OLD f-16s AND GRIPEN
Cost wise mig 29 will be better
F-16s are good(old refurbished) but they have limited life span , will need a full weapon suit
gripen is too expensive 70 million a piece
su 30 or mig29 will be the realistic option unless china offer a good J-10 deal
i dont think so current govt will think over FC-1

even though its a personal matter between India & Bangladesh, but I don't agree with the logic of a smaller country cant have a strong military capability if, it has a bigger neighbor, look at south Korea for example it is 45,000 sq km smaller then Bangladesh & is neighbour of China & North Korea & China itself is 3 times the size of India , yet South Korea has one of the most powerful military capabilities in the world with an recognised powerful navy the point I am trying to make is, its not the size of the neighbor but the resolute & determinations of the country which matters , think about it way back in 71 or even in 84 could anyone have thought that Pakistan would one day reply India's 5 nuclear test with 6 of its own ?

J-10 will be using a chinese engine and i think the chinese may want to give it a few years before properly marketing it for larger sales. However,there maybe a possibility of the JF-17 or J-10 if the BNP come into power. But for now the choice is between SU-30,SU-27 or a Mig 29 SMT.

But every country has a future military goal. But cant find a specific goal for BAF.
Its just going without any definite future. Any disclosure by BAF of its future 4++
generation fighter aircrafts. We are not talking of stealth technology. Talking
something which is demand of the time and to strengthen the air force.
