China is doing all this at Nepali request. In fact Nepal has always wanted a northern route to lessen its dependence on transist through India. A college classmate of mine served as a Chinese diplomat in Kathmandu. Here are couple anecdotes I can still recall from our chitchat. Water in...
Try not to post a retranslated version of the story (English>Chinese>English). Now we end up with an English version which is beyond laughable. It is none of our business anyway.
China has never been interested in forecasts and projections. We only try our best to take care of our business at home and let the chips fall where they may.
I came across a Youtube video of Doval talking about the disparity between India and China in terms of hard power. He said that it would take India 50 years (or till 2050?) to catch up with China. My first reaction was "is this dude Indian?". The video may be a year or two old.
The author was being melodramatic, a fine Indian tradition by the way. Seriously though, geography makes it harder for Nepal to trade through China. Goods transported through China will cost more for the simple reason that they have to travel much farther distance. An alternative route will give...
PRC has had three leaders at best since its founding. Mao and Deng were the other two. All the rest presidents of China have been unimaginative bureaucrats who happened to fill the post.
What are these Kangaroos crying about? As a percentage of GDP Chinese defence spending is the second lowest among all the major countries in the world. Japan is the lowest at 1 percent, followed by China at 1.25 percent.
Is this gentleman in any way related to the other Menon in the Nehru cabinet?
By the way, China is rising but not yet risen. That's how China sees itself.
Don't you worry. China has long maintained that India's neighbors' consent is a must. In other words if any of its neighbor objects China will not support Indian bid to be a permanent member of the UNSC.
Having more or less watched the entire video, I came away completely underwhelmed. The whole program is nothing more than talking points, cliches, and propaganda.
i appreaciate your optimism. I tend not to be as optimistic. The Indian narrative has taken root among Indians. Besides, any change will come as a shock to the Indian population and will also weaken Indian positon on the disputed border.
You did a good job summerizing the Indian narrative with regard to the 1962 border war. Several generations of Indians have grown up on that narrative. To us Chinese it is complete falsehood. There are a few things that I would like to clarify.
Indi-Chini Bhai-Bhai was a thing of the early...
This is a biased (as opposed to random) sample. One should not extrapolate anything from an unrepresentative sample.
If you were to visit Chinese internet forums you would not find hatred toward India. What you will find is indifference and a fair amount of amusement about India's love of...
I am glad that you had a grat experience in China. Warm feeling toward each other goes both ways. Over the years I have come across quite a number of anecdotal stories about Pakistani warmth toward Chinese travelers in Pakistan. Little things such as insisting on giving drinks,in and by...
