PAF F-16s will be brought up to blk 52 standard minus 3 things
1. there are no improvements to the Block 15s mission range and loiter time;
2. there are no engine improvements; and,
3. there are no improvements to payload capacity
It has other things that come with blk 52 like APG-68v9...
They can afford to buy and maintain medium weight fighters. Sort of the same Russia are not going for single engined, medium weight fighters and USA do not have a light weight fighter in their inventories.
There have been reports that they might, especially after development of WS-13 and a...
I believe you cannot send in fighters during their testing phases. There is no formal JF-17 squadron in service to be assigned for that mission.
Secondly, some of the PGMs "might" not have yet been integrated on it. Besides, the PAF would like to use F-16s since FMF is being used for their...
“The Navy can lose us the war, but only the Air Force can win it. The fighters are our salvation, but the bombers alone provide the means of victory.”
- Winston Churchill
As I said, its too early to speculate. But considering that its 5 years away, I am pretty sure there is enough time to incorporate lots of changes.
My personal feeling is, if AESA is being offered for JF-17 now then surely you can expect a pretty decent AESA for FC-20. Then the navigation...
Thing is...we cannot market a plane we cannot supply since our own needs are so much.
We can save the money we will get by exporting but increasing our share in the manufacturing of our own jets...250 is a HUUUUUUUUGE number to deliver in about 5-6 years for us. We will probably need to buy...
I agree US engines is not an option. Personally, I doubt PAF will go for an engine change. I heard they had made some good progress in terms of serviceability of the RD-93 (i.e reducing the time to overhaul/change). Possibly an improved version of it or the WS-13 should be the way forward...
Official claims big rise in arms exports
ISLAMABAD, July 17: Pakistans defence exports have tripled to around $300 million because of the quality of its ammunition, anti-tank guided missiles, rocket launchers and shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles.
Our defence exports have been...
It is the site Admin/Mod opinion and there is nothing official to it. AFAIK, production will start on both sites with gradual increment of PAC Kamra till 2010-11 when 60% airframe and 80% avionics will be manufactured in PAC Kamra.
Regarding numbers as some people have raised the question...
hj786,
If you look at that page again, on the top right side it says:
Project status: Canceled.
The J-13 is the Naval chinese carrier-borne fighter. Previously, it was rumored to be a version of Su-33 ( or Su-27 navalized). Later rumors suggest it is a new design, semi-stealth (or...
Found some misconceptions about JF-17 on the "JF-17 vs Su-30 MKI" thread, regarding people doubting the avionics of the JF-17.
Ofcourse the whole avionics package is not public but here I would like to quote whatever is in the open. The following is a translation of an article that appeared...
I think it is fake too, just added it at the end since it appeared today on china-defense.
The actual thread is about people like MK, Muradk, and others saying we need J-11. We know that is rather difficult so why do they think we need J-11 and if those benefits that people regard in the...
Its been claimed by many that the J-11B suites PAF needs being a heavy fighter. But we know that such a purchase is unlikely because apart from PAF's decision for going for a heavy fighter, J-11 is roughly a copy of the Russian Su-27...and hence intellectual rights might come in play. In simpler...
