JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 2]

You probably won't hear any news until the equipment has been selected. There are slim chances of an engine change at this stage, atleast for the second or even third batch, but the avionics package might be selected whether an enhanced Chinese or western, depending on funds. I read somewhere a...

Chengdu J-10 Multirole Fighter Air Craft News & Discussions

Here are my views on the subject. I think anyone who thinks "China will have the J-XX and we'll get it from them" is living in a...I would say "unknown territory" instead of fool's paradise. While there is a good chance that PAF might be in a position to get the next Chinese aircraft if...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 2]

They would be even better. Both the latest F-16s and J-10 have more range and more weapons capacity as well as higher powerplant that could support bigger equipments. I think you are mistaking technologies with capabilities. Also, as I said the statement was meant 'for the general public...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 2]

No he's not trying to fool anyone. But you must realize the interview is for general public, 90% or more of whom probably do not even know what's a block 50 or a typhoon. Even the interviewer hasn't a clue about aviation and is actually asking how 'compatible' the plane is. Secondly, he is...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 2]

Why would you need to launch a long range cruise missile from an aircraft? Currently, only the ballistic missiles have that range (2000 + km) and the babur cruise missile (Ground launched) has 700/750km range.

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 2]

Being "based in malaysia" doesn't make you malaysian just like I live in France but I am not a French. Read what? I do not see any mention that this guy is from malaysia or that PAC assembled 15 aircrafts in 2008 or will manufacture 20 this year (2009) or that JF-17 has FBW in Yaw only...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 2]

Why can't indian "analysts" leave aside things they have no knowledge of? PAC assembled 8 aircrafts prior to 2009 and will assemble 6-8 this year. JF-17 has FBW in all axis. Even if some believe it has in one axis, it is the pitch axis and not yaw as this guy would like us to believe.

    Pakistan F-16 Discussions 2

The fundamental question is : How much more life do these retiring F-16s have? If you need to undergo MLU and structural upgrade, these birds might not be available before the tentative date for our FC-20s. The second important question is : How much will they cost assuming they are available...

    Malik Qayyum also dumps Musharraf

Personal likeness or hatred aside, it looks like a smart advice by Pirzada. This Qayyum guy never looked smart to me. I wonder why anyone would have him in his legal team?

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 2]

That is additional to the 8 JF-17s we have. The JF-17 serials start from 101 so this is the 10th not the 9th. By 2008, we had 8 of them. This one, as can be seen from the serial, was built in 2009. Note also that it might come in a semi-knock down state (like the earlier ones) and its...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 2]

Look closely, there are two planes. The one in front is PT-01 and doesn't have the DSI while the one at the back is 110.

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 2]

I think you are talking about this video That is partially true but not completely. If more than 7 hardpoints was put at the very beginning, then the whole program could have been delayed. Keep in mind that even the BVR requirement was made in the development process not before the...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 2]

I came across an news item regarding APS Novastar equipments to be used by KARF for "building mission critical avionics for pakistani fighter jets". It will also go on to answer some of "what will be build in pakistan?" questions. Its good to see Kamra complex modernizing itself to be able to...

    PAF's possible answer to MRCA

yes FD-2000 is the export name of the chinese HQ-9. The FT-2000 is a different missile though believed to be closely related to the HQ-9. The FT-2000 has a broadband passive radar target seeker (passive homing) that can detect the electromagnetic emanations from the adversary early warning...

    Future of JF-17

This is a joint-project from day one and nobody is calling it indigenous. Have you been sleeping? Btw, if this can be called indigenous then why not JF-17?

Chengdu J-10 Multirole Fighter Air Craft News & Discussions

We don't know the specs of this plane but the different between FC-20 and the regular J-10 would be in better Radar, Navigation system and weapons. Additionally, the engine is like to change as well. There might be other things too but we do not know about it yet.
