Pakistan doesn't even have a special civil service category for engineers/scientists. There are no long term career prospects for technical people as most govt engineering jobs are contract based.
The people at SUPARCO or any other strategic orgs just treat their jobs as a 'sarkari naukri' and...
This is from a Nov-2018 Facebook post by Athar Osama (then-Member Science & Technology, Planning Commission). Just putting it here in the hopes that it catalyzes some hope and discussion spanning 37 pages
Had 41% of the total budget was not being spent on debt servicing, we would have been able to afford this and a lot more.
The huge debt is a crime for which the Sharif's and the PPP goons must be strung from the trees like Mussolini
The PN is probably hoping to keep them in service for a few years more atleast. The tenders were for the indigenous development of battery monitoring systems (owing to obsolescence and discontinuation of the particular submarine class, OEM support is not available).
I can not say of this...
It seems like the old dream of a 20-ship Navy is about to be fulfilled.
With the PN's order book filled, it is a time to be grateful and proud of what the Navy has achieved.
New ships/submarines on order (and/or undergoing systems installation/sea trials)
4x Type 054AP-class frigates
4x MILGEM...
I can authoritatively claim that the expertise for the design, modelling and simulation as far as UAV structures, aerodynamics and payloads are concerned exists in Pakistan. The manufacturing aspect i.e. composites manufacturing, mold-making, etc also exists.
The requirement is for us to focus...
This guy's getting good recognition on LinkedIn. I just saw a Pakistani guy working at NASA (don't know if he's another fake) congratulating him.
I just feel that its downright shameful and utterly pathetic that we have reached a level where anyone can rise up from among the ranks of the scum of...
Sadly, diplomacy is not our exactly one of our strengths.
Our entire administrative and foriegn service structure has been infiltrated by elements whose loyalties lie elsewhere. To this, add the non-existent soft power.
Wish we still had the likes of Sahibzada Yaqub or Jamshed Marker.
I wish our government had the balls to do a special ops target extraction type mission. We go in on helos, drop some SpecOps, get the guy and come back as we went.
Something like the Israelis, or the Americans.
How practical would that be?
@Bilal Khan (Quwa) There was a recent tender floated by the PAC, concerning the procurement of 'X-Band Quad Transmit-Recieve Modules for Airborne Applications'.
What do you think that's all about?
Gentlemen, while I realize that you all are wayy more experienced and educated than I am currently (BE-EE 3rd year), I would like to add my own viewpoint to this very interesting discussion.
We have EXCELLENT people. US educated, patriotic, dedicated (can't stress this enough). And I'm not just...
You are absolutely correct.
Supercomputers are an expensive investment. And they have relatively short service lives owing to rapid obsolescence and the wear and tear brought about by the extreme heating caused during operation. Pakistan does not have the skilled human resource required to...
I'm not doubting the veracity of your claim, but I was in Lahore during the past week, and happened to visit the phase 1 commercial market a number of times and it was more crowded than shown even around 10-11pm.
Also, it's DHA after all. If you want to see crowds, I suggest you visit Karachi...
These 'flags' appear to be more of a fanboy's job than real ones.
The Dominion of Pakistan, as Pakistan was known upon independence, was a sovereign country but since we did not have a constitution of our own, we had no choice but to accept the British Monarch as our sovereign, something which...
Agreed.
To loosely quote one of your articles, even if Pakistan does not engage in designing and manufacturing these underlying inputs, we can develop expertise in integrating disparate subsystems from a variety of vendors.
Also, one of the areas of engineering in which Pakistan can engage in...
The cost is a confidential matter of the team. Although I have a fair idea, it would be improper to share it on a public forum. But the cost is very low as compared to the Chinese systems available commercially.
The safe operating range is within LOS, or as long as visual contact can be safely...
The guys (and girls) who designed and built this are all my juniors or classmates. Although I agree that the design is a few years behind what is currently available commercially, but we have to realize that if a small group of 18-20 year olds can do this job for around a million rupees, then we...
The goal is not to reinvent the wheel. It would be a nightmare to manufacture each and every part indigenously.
The art and science is in the integration, tuning and testing of all these parts which make up the complete system.
The guys on this team are all my friends and classmates and I can...
