there will be difference in the speed of a missile and an aircraft anyway it can be taken care but the concept you are giving is practical and actually israelis applied this doctrine in war with arabs when they didn't want to loose even single F-15 cos they were so costly at that time ...

i remember a guy boasting about how a TVC aircraft can change its direction opposite in 6-8 seconds.. and if we notice here the 180 turn pitching upward and rolling back to fly opposite by the JFT pilot took 7 seconds... someone correct me if i m wrong ;)
