"I ain't disappointed at all; rater business people way too present-mind than us engineers
" I am afraid that is stereo typing my friend. But I am glad you "Ain't" disappointed.
I believe you are an engineer and it is not sin to be "Present Minded." BTW my whole family is that of engineers!!! My father is an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer, One of my brothers has a double Masters from Imperial College London in Thermal Power & Production Technology and a silver medalist from NED, another brother is a Mechanical engineer from NED and running our family business of Light Gauge Metal Fabrication, younger brother is also an engineer and helping him. I guess I was the black sheep of the family and did not do engineering;-)
As far as the AQK thing is concerned, he is not bigger than Pakistan and his role in the Nuclear Program is restricted to Uranium Reprocessing.
I did not want to discuss certain things openly but my first cousin who was a Lt. Col. in ADA in PA was posted at Kahuta and commanded the Air Defense assets deployed to cover KRL and the shipments in and out of Chaklala. This was during the height of Afghan war and the things that he recounted were quite amazing and compel me to soundly come to the conclusion that AQK was working as he please without much Govt. oversight. PAF use to provide planes without filing flight plans until AQK came to Chaklala and than it was rush job to file flight plans to AFATC.
On the personal side I knew Dr. Zaki Hassan, a family friend and a renowned psychiatrist who along with his staff was physically thrown out and beaten in-front of AQK by his security goons in Karachi beacuse he had a difference of opinion with them on treatment protocol for the patients in "His" hospital. Dr. Zaki was 68 at that time!!!
My fathers company was heavily involved at one point in time with NDC and developing the hydraulic lifting system for Shaheen Missile launch vehicle. He used to interact with NDC high-ups and staff both in ISB & Winder -- and my oh my there were stories abound with the conduct of AQK of his official and personal high handedness.
Even if he was the fall guy, some times one does is out of love for his country -- Oppenheimer was a case in point -- one does not afterwards stick it to his country with revelations upon revelations on what was and who was involved -- this later created a lot of pressure on Pakistan and is still jeapordising Pakistan's Nuclear program and status. IMHO he should have kept quite after his incarceration. He could have written a autobiography for posterity's sake and cleared his name later on if he wanted to and not on a jingoism streak.
We need to see his conduct in context of Pakistan. I respect and admire the guy but not his role after the revelations vis a vis Pakistan.
