Haha! Actually, 5 days ago, I came down with a wicked head cold, called in sick, and still have sinus problems. The timing was perfect to avoid this awful weather. We are all in our house, the temp inside is in the 50's, and these rolling black-outs are a PITA. No work or school for any of us.
No, but I've taxi'd by it many, many times. There's often airplane spotters there, and we'd get waves, and wave back in return.
It's a good job, but just a job. The industry as a whole is pretty grim right now, and compared to military flying, it can be very boring. Modern jets are just scary-reliable now, and while we hand-fly all the time just for fun, mostly it's just system monitoring. You turn on the autopilot at cruise and it stays on until the descent.
I've been qualified at different times in almost all of the Boeings: 727, 737, 757, 767, 777, and in the MD-80 and MD-11. I currently fly the 737, mostly to central America.
