What's new

Zardari serves Rs1 billion legal notice to Sadruddin Hashwani of Hashoo Group, for defamation!

. .
That Chairman of Hashoo Group made his wealth by work not by commissions and kickbacks like Zardari and Nawaz.

What I liked so far is as follows:

1. Pak military is a great institution. Iff it was not for PA, our country will be utterly damaged.
2. Bhutto destroyed country in the name of socialism
3. Zia added more destruction in the name of Islam

No other leader was as terrible as Bhutto/Zia

No other leader including IK is capable to steer Pak out of current doldrums.

. . . .
u cant talk about any one just like that what ever u are.there should be mutual respect for every body.for what ever the politics in pakistan is right now.that doesnt mean its all becose of imran only.noonies are to be blamed for all the mess
The guy you're trying to bash is a PTI supporter too.:omghaha:

.
What if the common citizens do the same against all the politicians in Pakistan and the money they get goes to the national treasury.

Imagine if at least 10000 citizens demand 1 billion each as per above breakup, the politicians will have to sell even their clothes that they will be wearing at that moment.
Thats some idea.

Sadruddin Hashwani with his book

Pakistan hotelier to launch book in Dubai

Sadruddin Hashwani hopes his memoirs will inspire youth to overcome odds

A prominent Pakistani businessman whose hotels were bombed in his homecountry is launching his memoirs on his 75th birthday in Dubai on Thursday.

Titled Truth Always Prevails, the 248-page book published by Penguin Random House India chronicles the life and times of Sadruddin Hashwani, chairman of the Hashoo Group whose businesses range from cotton and rice trading to oil and gas exploration and hospitality.

Dubai-based Hashwani says his autobiography is a reflection of the many struggles he has faced in his lifetime -- “from sleeping in the back of trucks in the cold deserts of Balochistan to now owning a brand of luxury hotels and numerous other businesses” – which he hopes will inspire the young generations of his country. to survive against odds and build a better tomorrow.

Among other things, the book recounts the author’s shock and grief during the 2008-09 bombings on Islamabad Marriott and Pearl Continental Peshawar hotels, both of which he runs.

“There had been 2,000 people in the hotel when the bombing happened. Sixty people had died, close to 300 injured. We found bodies of our dear guests, colleagues, friends: faces I recognised, I had worked with and smiled at. The sight that stunned me the most was the crater – 60 feet wide and 20 feet deep. It had been created by over 1,000 kg of RDX … I had thought myself as a hardened man who had seen violence and grisly sights—but what I saw that day will be engraved in my memory for the rest of my life,” writes Hashwani of the September 20, 2008 attack on Marriott Islamabad.

Similarly, he talks of the June 2009 bomb attack on Pearl Continental Peshawar when 17 people were killed.

A well-known philanthropist, Hashwani also touches upon the work of the Hashoo Foundation, which he says gives him the “greatest satisfaction”. He says the foundation has worked in education, public health, dairy development, honeybee farming and skill development of Afghan refugees, helping about half a million people in their fight against poverty.

“I am not flattered by the achievements of the Hashoo Foundation. Indeed, I am thankful for the privilege that the Almighty has accorded me to help my fellow human beings and my Pakistani brothers and sisters,” he notes.

The book launch, to be held at Grand Hyatt on February 19, will be followed by a Sufi concert by Abida Parveen.

Pakistan tycoon launches memoir in Dubai
Sadruddin Hashwani recounts death threats and move to Dubai in Truth Always Prevails

Leading Pakistani businessman Sadruddin Hashwani launched his memoir Truth Always Prevails on Thursday in Dubai, which he considers his second home following “death threats” in Pakistan.

Hashwani, founder and chairman of the Hashoo Group, moved to Dubai after the 2008 bombing of his Marriot hotel in the Pakistani capital Islamabad.

The 75-year-old expat suspects he or his family may have been an intended target in the attack, which killed 60 people and injured around 300 others.

Narrating his struggles in the 248-page book, Hashwani claims his blunt words and stance against “corruption” in Pakistan made him the target of multiple assassination attempts and death threats.

He writes how he decided to leave for Dubai “till the heat died down and till the threat to my life receded”. Hashwani “expected to be away for only a few months… How was I to know it would be five years before I saw my beloved country again?”

He used the time to oversee his business from Dubai, a “welcoming, safe and well-equipped city” that was close enough to Pakistan. Hashwani now divides his time between Dubai and Pakistan.

“The reason I have not moved back full-time to Pakistan is because I have learnt to appreciate the merits of Dubai as an international business metropolis, one that will help me – and the Hashoo Group – explore new frontiers, geographically and otherwise,” Hashwani writes.

Speaking to Gulf News on the sidelines of the event, Hashwani said he hoped his book would inspire Pakistanis, especially the youth, to persevere in the face of adversity.

“Pakistan is a rich country. It has rich natural and human resources, by the blessing of God. But the constitution has been exploited by and for the politicians, not for the public. Democracy has not filtered down,” he added.

Hashwani’s candid accounts of “frequent not-so-pleasant” encounters with Pakistan’s most powerful figures have won him both praise and threat of legal action.

“Threats don’t affect me, I’ve always said the truth. And the truth always prevails.”

Hashwani also said young people – who constitute 60 per cent of Pakistan’s 200 million-strong population – should not hesitate to follow their dreams and serve their country. “To the youth I say, education, education, education.”

During the Dubai launch of the book at Grand Hyatt hotel, attended by diplomats, politicians, celebrities and businessmen – some of who flew in for the occasion – Hashwani’s friends and family said the book was a history of sorts of Pakistan itself, drawing parallels from his own life story.

Guests at the event included British member of parliament Sir Tony Baldry, Indian actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, former Pakistan foreign secretary Riaz Khokhar and Christina Lamb OBE, foreign correspondent of the UK’s Sunday Times.

Pakistani Sufi singer Abida Parveen gave a heartwarming performance after expressing acknowledgements to Hashwani.

The autobiography, published by Penguin Random House India, has been on the bestsellers lists in Pakistani since its release last year. It is not yet available in Dubai bookstores.

According to a press note, the book is “an inspirational yet heart-warming memoir that celebrates the remarkable rags-to-riches story of Sadruddin Hashwani, a self-made entrepreneur who rose from his humble origins to head one of the most powerful Pakistani business conglomerates and become Pakistan’s well-respected philanthropist.

“The book describes his journey from sleeping in the back of trucks in the cold deserts of Balochistan to owning a vast portfolio of luxury hotels as well as numerous other businesses.”
