Zakir Naik finds refuge in Malaysia

He is a Hindutva apologist looser... said pakistan was a mistake! Ha , ha... now run along homeless refugee seeking a "Pakistan" to find shelter from the RSS Hindutva! Lol... love the irony.

His view is common among Islamists, including Pakistan. JI was opposed to the creation of Pakistan from the beginning. Islamists are pan-religionists, not nationalists. So what Naik has said is consistent among Islamists. He's not -- nor will he ever be -- a Hindutva apologist.

An Islamist can also be a nationalist or a patriot for his country.
Do you even know what you are talking about.

Do you? Islamists consider themselves Muslims first and everything else is secondary, including loyalty to one's country. Even Islamists in Pakistan, like the late Dr. Israr Ahmed, considered Pakistan a kafir country. And he's not the only one.

.
At his appearance at the Putra mosque last month, a female Reuters reporter asked about the investigation in India. Naik would only say: "Sorry, it is not right for me to speak with ladies in public."
That's seems to be pretty dishonest reporting and false propaganda. He has spoken to thousands of women in public gathering and most of them non-Muslim and hence not wearing Islamic dress or hijab.

Lets hope this helps him find hidayat. He has a lot of arrogance for someone who is so well versed in Quran and Sunnah. A scholar from the UK i know saw him at hajj or umrah and asked if he was open to the idea of having inter-faith discussion between different groups of Muslims. His response was "who else is there to talk to, the Shia, the barelvi? They are all not Muslim".

Whatever your personal views, i don't think any serious scholar should be flippant like that.

:o: Since when?

I get it, since then ^^

He is in Malaysia. Malaysia != Pakistan && KSA != Pakistan.

brother, that was just his opinion that partition was wrong.

Who cares about his opinion on partition. That is just Dr. Zakir Naik's opinion.

JI was not opposed to Pakistan's creation. Stop making stuff up @cloud4000 . Yes some opposed because they thought Pakistan would not be an Islamic state.

India to take up Zakir Naik's extradition with Malaysia
India will soon make a formal request to Malaysia for the extradition of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, PTI has reported.

"Our legal internal process is nearing completion. Once it is complete, we will then make an official request to the Malaysian government very soon," ANI quoted Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar as saying.

Kumar added that the "nature of the request" will be clear in the next couple of weeks.

The 52-year-old televangelist's hardline views sparked outrage and an investigation in India, leading him to flee the country. Just last week, the NIA prepared charges against him for "promoting enmity and hatred between different religious groups in India through public speeches and lectures."

Naik, has, however, received permanent residency in Malaysia, and has even been welcomed by the country's government.

He is reportedly "a reasonably popular character amongst Malays, who gloss over his more controversial aspects," an analyst told Reuters. So much so, that "if the government were to kick him out of the country, it causes them to lose religious credibility in the eyes of the public."

Open to handing over Zakir Naik to India, confirms Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister
Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed the news and said Naik will be sent back to India after they receive a formal request from the latter.

"Any formal request where we are seeking the assistance of a foreign government in cases of extradition, it requires a legal process internally, first," India's External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had said in response to a question at his weekly media briefing.

"We are nearing the completion of this exercise and once this exercise is complete, we will make an official request to the Malaysian government on this matter," he had said.

Malaysia will send back Muslim preacher if India requests extradition
Malaysia will send controversial televangelist Zakir Naik back to India if its government requests his extradition, said Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Wednesday (Nov 8).

The Muslim preacher is a permanent resident in Malaysia, and is believed to be in the country.

In late October he was charged by India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) for inciting terror and delivering hate speeches.

According to the Malay Mail Online, Datuk Seri Zahid, who is also Home Minister, told Parliament that India had not requested extradition yet, but Putrajaya will go ahead with deportation if requested via the Mutual Legal Assistance programme between the two governments.

He added that there is as yet no application from Zakir to become a Malaysian citizen, contrary to earlier reports in the Indian media.

His international passport has been revoked by the Indian government.

Zakir, 52, is accused of inciting youth to take up terror acts and join terror outfits such as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). He has reportedly recommended the death penalty for homosexuals and those who abandon Islam as their faith. A YouTube video shows him saying that if Osama bin Laden "is terrorising America the terrorist, the biggest terrorist, I am with him".

Bangladesh suspended Peace TV channel, which features his preachings, after some media reports claimed bombers of a Dhaka cafe that killed 22 people last year were fans of Zakir.

Zakir has denied the accusations against him and has claimed that he was being targeted by India's Hindu nationalist government because of his popularity.

The preacher has a substantial following in Malaysia, with both Dr Zahid and Prime Minister Najib Razak posting photos taken with him last year on Facebook.

Opposition Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS) had previously urged the government to disregard any potential Indian extradition request, saying the allegations aim "to block his influence and efforts to spread religious awareness among the international community".

Dr Ahmad Zahid had told Parliament on Oct 31 that Zakir had not broken any laws or regulations during his stay in Malaysia. "As such, there is no reason from a legal standpoint to detain or arrest him," he said.

He assured lawmakers today that the government would continue to monitor Zakir's activities in the country and would take action if he got involved in any terrorist activities, reported The Star.
