What's new

Featured Zaheer Ahmad Babar appointed new Chief of Pakistan Air Force

Then that means almost the entire army for a whole day

I would like to suggest that such argument is now giving an impression that men have been negligent which is why it leads to more confusion and even disappointing reaction by few people. Therefore, we must argue the matter in the sense of professionalism & how PAF or any other branch of Pakistan Armed Forces doesn't forgive nor forget. Furthermore, we have learnt a lot on that night and next day as well. We have overcome the loopholes with best of planning and by new tactics. Unless something happens as such, no one learns the best for future. What happened that night, had its own set of gravity & crucial situation and so, the event taught the lesson as well. Be it a man in-charge or the whole system; not a bit of information and findings gone in vain.

I would suggest that we should burry this argument as a whole as it is too sensitive a topic to be discussed on na open forum plus very few people have the ability to digest and understand the real objective of the discussion without going into negativity and deducing conclusions that serve their own interests/POV

You are absolutely right....confusion is there. Everybody should understand that not even the best airforces in the world can guard every inch of their airspace 24x7. There are blind spots. Hence not so painful to accept that IAF intruded for some KMs inside Pakistani airspace on Jan 26th. What felt like a knife in the gut was a hint that even on Jan 26th, PAF could have slapped IAF faces red but it didn't due to what ever reasons. Apart from Allah SWT, only the top 10-20 people in the country from both political and military leadership will know if this is true.

What happened on Jan 27th, the whole world has recognized the capability, strategy and execution of PAF. Even the Americans were delighted but of course they can't show that publicly.

There is no doubt that after Jan 26th, if some weak areas were identified, they have been taken care of by now. In Pakistan, all 3 armed forces enjoy immense respect in the society but PAF is on another level. Young kids aspire to become fighter pilots. It's not like in our neighboring countries where if a kid is not able to get in anywhere then he joins military. So our fighter pilots are cream of the nation. It's been almost 20 years but I still can't get over the grief of getting A4G1 in CMB. Every couple of months an acute pain is felt in the heart as coming so close but couldn't make it all the way. But than you have to have firm belief that this is how it was decreed by Allah SWT.

Just a commoner.
Oh, just like the rest of us mortals.
with all those medals i would never be able to freaking walk :/
Than its a good thing that you were never in contention for the position.

On the flip side, not sure how many of you picked up on the conversation ACM (retd.) Mujahid Anwar Khan was having with ACM Zaheer Ahmed Babar when he was putting on the 4th Star(s). I'm gonna try to use Sony Sound Forge if I can increase the audio levels and drop the background sound.

I particularly liked the (hard) pats he gave. Not sure if that's a PAF tradition.

Another aspect is that the range of a missile head on is much different versus that of an aircraft running away.
I wont comment on giving chase or not but essentially the 80km BVR Head on at co-altitude is going to end up less than 12-15km in a tail chase depending upon the escaping aircraft’s airspeed.

There was fog of war on the 26th and a clear wish to not to escalate things. Im sure retrospectives were done and different response doctrines formulated. All the CAS candidates were superb in their own right and if it took 100 green flags vs 99 green flags to decide then that it is what it is.

To be short listed for the top position they all have much more qualifications than the petty things you outlined and the decision is not based on the things that you mentioned as his achievements. At that level besides professional competence, there are many other (non-political) things that are considered.

No such orders were given, all the three services were given a free hand by IK and were told to bring down anything that crosses into Pakistan.
That's exactly wt the PAF did.

AM Haseebs mistake I have dwelled in detail in one of my previous posts.

F 16 operated from the confines of our own air space so any question of violation does not arise.

Please direct me to that post.
