What's new

Your current car and mpg

I have had Prius before... Yeah unique look of Nissan leaf is not eye catching and not enough mileage range for most of my journeys but see I have another van too.. So car is only to drive within the city..
I think I will ultimately buy Prius once again as the range really means a lot to me... or the second choice is Vauxhall Insignia.. One of my cousin has it and I absolutely loved it

Plus hybrids get a break on the Congestion Charge, do they not?

.
Yes in Pakistan. Just got it about 1 week back. Mostly driving in heavy traffic so mileage is low. It's manual 6 speed, comes with a good infotainment system. Android infotainment with wireless/bluetooth, back up camera etc. Haven't gotten the chance to drive on highway so i am sure the real mileage would be more than that.
Yeah it would certainly be at least 25-50% more on highways. The mpg you are mentioning is too low so I guess it would be slightly better than that... or else I can understand the heavy traffic of bigger cities in Pakistan where you sometimes are stuck for hours n hours... so anything is possible

Yep, they do...

No congestion charge on green cars

That is nearly a tenner saved per trip!
It indeed is... paying £11.50 per day even if you entered the zone for only once is too much. It should not have been there in the first place and if it was getting inevitable then perhaps £1 is more than enough. Come on London, get some more bridges and underpasses to resolve the traffic issues. Why charge us so much

Soon I am gonnai buy a different van with LPG already fitted (Insha'Allah), LPG is also exempt from congestion charge

So the idea is:
Large van with preferably LPG fitted already

@Aether May I ask a question? Why does MPG matter? A person has a car that gets 10 mpg but drives only 5,000 miles a year will spend less on fuel than a person with a car that gets 30 mpg but drives 30,000 miles a year. And even if the guy with the 10 mpg car drives 30,000 miles, what is the big deal if the percentage of their income spent on fuel is smaller than somebody else's?

Well mpg matters to me a lot since I drive very frequently and due to the nature of my new work I might be driving even more.

It's around 25,000 miles I might be driving per year. So if I spend £2820 pounds on fuel with my mpg being close to 52... I might be spending £6100 on the car giving me only 24mpg.

Massive savings when you break down to everyday's life

That fuel cost is just another business expense in your new line of work, I presume? That is a different mindset.
