Arfa Karim achieved more in her short 17 years than many do in their 70 or so year’s life span. I am proud that she was my compatriot and pray to Allah to bless her soul.

LAHORE - On the directions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the Punjab government has decided to name the Lahore Information Technology Park after Arfa Karim Randhawa. Talking to the father of Arfa Karim, the chief minister said she had won laurels for which the Pakistani nation will never forget. He said that Arfa Karim also impressed the people older to her and she was the precious asset of the entire Pakistan. He announced the parents of Arfa will be the chief guests in the function of distribution of free laptops among male and female students by the Punjab government.

A very sad news. She was a smart young girl and achieved a lot in her short life. A sad day for Pakistan and infact the whole world.

Karachi IT Media City to be renamed after Arfa

KARACHI: Sindh Information Technology (IT) Minister Raza Haroon announced on Sunday that the IT Media City in Karachi will be renamed after the World’s Youngest Microsoft Certified Professional Arfa Karim Randhawa.
The project will now be known as Arfa Karim IT Media City.
The decision to rename the mega project was taken on the request of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.
According to a press release issued by the MQM, the IT Media City is a world class project spread over 200 acres of land near the Super Highway.
Arfa, 16 years old, child prodigy, Microsoft professional and winner of the president’s Pride of Performance, breathed her last on January 14 at the Combined Military Hospital in Lahore.
The IT genius had an epileptic attack on December 22 and had been in a coma since, while well-wishers prayed and watched her progress closely.

She had seizures and postictal cardiac arrest ! Quite a rare incident.

I know this thread doesn't need my comments on her illness, but with due respect I think she had respiratory failure/insufficiency first then cardiac arrest. This one is a typical complication following seizures due to blockage of airways. I do not know about Pakistan but in India people around patient make situation more worst by crowding, putting water in mouth, opening clinching of teeth with spoons etc. and not positioning Patient on left lateral position.

I think If people around her might had training to provide first aid to person suffering tonic-clonic seizures and management of ABC, her hypoxia which lead to hypoxic brain damage could have been avoided.

I am sorry again for this post of mine but I think this information and my guess (may be completely wrong) on her mode of illness may help others to learn something out of it.

Interestingly, Randhawa is a Jat name which is common amongst Hindus and Sikhs.

I can't believe this hell hole is trying to win sympathy for an intelligent, socialized and educated girl.

Three qualities that these politicians are devoid of.

Laanat on such people, and Laanat on people who still chat their slogans.
