What's new

Yes, we can compete in trade

Focus on your core competencies first... i.e. agriculture and textiles. These sectors can give tough competition to India. Once these sectors stabilize, focus can move to development of other sectors.
Expand you market into newer areas... China is on good terms with Pakistan and thus can provide a huge market for its products with increasing purchasing power. Focus on what the developing world market needs and diversify.

Revival and encouragement of small scale industries, proper management of micro finances, taking care of the farmers who are blessed with a fertile land, better corruption control, less radicalisation of the society , finding new partnerships and finding newer trade partners and getting their trust, better utilisation of an excellent English speaking community to make use of service industry and removing religion from state can make you guys work wonders and travel places.

Smaller and less diverse are easier to improve... but the issue i think is nothing political, nothing external .. but social and internal. I guess i dont need to explain on that further.

India has higher gdp per capita than pak
Care to elaborate on ur second point??

India's GDP per capita and Pakistan's are both the same at the moment (3,100 and 2,700).

Pakistan hasn't been growing much in recent years and when neighbouring wars are over, that per capita GDP will rise much more quickly.

There might not be much difference, but I think that India will have more difficulty than Pakistan as the world economies slowly change.

3,100 and 2,700 when looked at with 8% and 2% growth rate do not look same. Pakistan needs to increase the growth rate and India needs to sustain its growth rate.

Problems which we are facing if put on India, you could see how quickly India disperse, we have lot of issues as key hurdles in our economic growth but no doubt that there is much potential to compete India & this is not problem.
Being as realistic i didn't deny that unfair government policies are giving negative results and main politics and more over strategic issues. Till we will not regulate or solve these key matters, to compete any country in trade or economics will be unrealistic idea.

I consider this to be a lame argument.Every country has its own advantages and disadvantages.Everything depends upon how you use the situation.
The problems that Pakistan is presently facing,if being put on India, then surely it would be a cause of concern.Similarly, the problems that India faces, like a huge population, every region having a language, ethnicity and culture of their own, then it would have a significant impact upon Pakistan as well. Those who really dont understand the gravity of problems due to the unification of people speaking different languages, belonging to different ethnic backgrounds can refer to the case of East Pakistan and West Pakistan.
