And the Chinese say "UK ships bad,U.S. fleet laughable". And China denies any accidents and problems in the Navy and Armed Forces in general. Would Chinese journalists have the freedom to say something contrary from the Party line? Like @aziqbal mentioned above.

Look,you have to understand I am not saying that the Chinese Navy is bad or weak. The Chinese Navy is very good and massive.

US destroyer crashed in Malacca Strait and Japan water due to poor seamanship. The so called more sophisticated USN submarine crashed into underwater mountain. It maybe due to a outdated underwater chart. But not acceptable for a sophisticated submarine not able to detect what lies ahead when they are passaging.

But dismissing Britain's long-time tradition and excellence in maritime warfare,that is silly. The problem for China is that the British would not attack alone,if they attacked. One of the most important military sales in the history of France was blocked by the allied countries for some reason. If this tender went to the USA, maybe they would have let it go, but if England gets the biggest share of the cake, I don't think the French politicians can easily digest it.

The main problem with UK is it's reducing its Army size to dangerously low numbers. Which would eventually hurt them really bad. Yes technology in Air Force and Navy has changed lot of things plus AI. But still not having an Army of even 120000 is dangerous and highly threatening for UK.

We have never had a large standing army, the emphasis goes RN then Army, now its RN, RAF then the Army. Remember we are an island to actually threaten the UK mainland with manpower you will have to get there by sea or air and that is made very difficult for a mass assault. The new Rangers regiment and the RN commando and army's Paras make sure we have a highly agile force for skirmishes around the world.

There is vision paper for the future structuring of the RN. I can't remember the name of the report now, but it had detailed content about the ongoing and planned modernization and restructuring. Due to its unique geopolitical and demographic conditions, the UK is not required to keep massive staff on active duty. May be with the limited active manpower, but on an extremely agile and high deterrent structure as should. I think England has one of the military forces that they correctly analyze the direction in which today's and future's combat conditions are evolving.

As for your experience, yes. UK carrier ops is even worst than China carrier ops experience. The F-35 wouldnt crashed if not for the slack handling of missing a plastic inlet cover which suxk into the F-35 engine and caused it to crash.

UK has not handle a real STOBAR carrier for many decades. Those experience carrier seaman has long retired or dead. While PLAN has CV-16 Liaoning since 2012 and we have constant and high tempo training more than any other countries operating aircraft carrier besides USN.

The only time UK went to a war alone was against Argentina, and even against them they lost 5 ships.

Even then they had to rely on their French and American allies to embargo the Argentinians and keep critical spares/supplies away in order to gain an upper hand.
