Yemeni boy, ravaged by hunger, weighs 7 kg

SANAA(Reuters) - Paralysed and severely malnourished, seven-year-old Faid Samim lies curled up on a hospital bed in the Yemeni capital Sanaa, having barely survived the journey there.
“He was almost gone when he arrived but thank God we were able to do what was necessary and he started improving. He is suffering from CP (cerebral palsy) and severe malnutrition,” said Rageh Mohammed, the supervising doctor of the Al-Sabeen hospital’s malnutrition ward.

Faid weighs only 7 kg (just over 15 lb) and his tiny, fragile frame takes up barely a quarter of a folded hospital blanket. His family had to travel from Al-Jawf, 170 km (105 miles) north of Sanaa, through checkpoints and damaged roads, to get him there.
Unable to afford Faid’s medication or treatment, the family relies on donations to get him treated. Mohammed says malnutrition cases are on the rise and impoverished parents are forced to rely on the kindness of strangers or international aid to get their children treated.

Famine has never been officially declared in Yemen, where a six-year war has left 80% of the population reliant on aid in what the U.N. says is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
U.N. warnings in late 2018 of impending famine prompted an aid ramp-up. But coronavirus restrictions, reduced remittances, locusts, floods and significant underfunding of the 2020 aid response are exacerbating hunger.
The war in Yemen, in which a Saudi-led coalition has been battling the Iranian-aligned Houthi movement since 2015, has killed more than 100,000 people and left the country divided, with the Houthis holding Sanaa and most major urban centres.

Yemen is facing an avoidable famine which would not have come if Yemen had scientific, progressive agriculture. Basically, Vertical Farming and Urban Farming which would have been greatly resistant to locusts and flooding.

But the rest of the world is not facing a famine. The world could have delivered food aid to Yemen. But a lot of the rest of the world, the richest ( and not so richest ) countries are spending money and other resources on waging mindless wars and stockpiling weapons. Example of such countries, USA, India, Pakistan and China.

Why is the UNO not mediating in the Yemen war ? What is the UNO so busy in ?

Right, and the UNO is also to blame for not being the mediation party between Saudia, Iran and the Houthis. The UNO SC was quick to adopt resolution to rubber stamp the invasions of Iraq, Libya and Syria, but here there is not even a squeak from UNO SC.

This is not a new phenomenon Sauds and Northern Yemen have been in fight for decades and Sauds got mad when their puppet was expelled. Even before Iranian Revolution they were engaged in military conflict.

So tell me now, does supporting the oppressed make us a part of this US led war on Yemen? Did you know that Israeli American and British pilots are driving Saudi purchased war planes? Are you living in a parallel world in which Iran has attacked Yemen the poorest Arab majority country?

Yes and i support it wholeheartedly. Supporting the oppressed has no shame in Nature.

You need to study more about the reasons behind this massacre. Yemen is a floating island on gas/oil fields.

Anyone arming Saudi is equally guilty of prolonging this war.

The whole World from brazilian Jewish led country to Israelis are arming Sauds for a reason.

Fact is that Yemen is gaining independence and USA doesn't want it. The coastal blockade on Yemen is done by American war ships, Sauds have no navy to do that. But the boots on the ground are mercenaries from Sudan and other poor states. This is an other covert Iran-USA war of influence. Sauds and Emiratis are American cannon fodders.

Iran wanted to deliver food, medicines and start trade. The flight was blocked by Saudi jets and Yemeni airport was bombed. There is also a sea blockade imposed by US and Saudis.
