Ya’alon (Isreali Defence Minister) : I would prefer Islamic State to Iran in Syria

It didn't do Pakistan much good to establish the Talibs, did it?

Pak didn't create Talibs CIA did.
We just chose a side in 90's when three different factions were at each other throat.
A side that had more close cultural and lingual relations to Pak as compare to indian and Iranian backed opponents.

So stop twisting history and for once try to deal things as they were instead of how you wanted them to be or how you want to paint them for coming generations.

. .
Yeah, I know that's what Pakistanis like to claim. Why should it be respected when facts don't back it up?

Why don't you present those facts here to enlighten us.
And also the source of billions of dollars which were used to uproot the super power called USSR.
And it would also help us a lot if you can show how the infamous Stinger missiles which changed the game were a Pakistani weapon.

And I am sure your coming generations will call this image a photoshopped one.

The Taliban was one of the Mujahideen factions that formed during the Soviet occupation and the internal fighting in Afghanistan. The Taliban emerged as a powerful movement in late 1994 when Pakistan chose the Taliban to guard a convoy trying to open a trade route from Pakistan to Central Asia. With Pakistan providing weapons, military training, and financial support, the Taliban gained control over several Afghan cities and successfully captured Kabul in September 1996. The Taliban continued to control most of Afghan territories with intermittent fighting with Afghanistan’s Northern Alliance, led by Ahmed Shah Massoud, the former defense minister under the coalition government led by President Burhanuddin Rabbani. link

Israel needs regime change. The civilized world should bomb the radical right wing Likud regime into oblivion. Afterwards install a left wing government which will make peace with the Palestinians and end it's support for ISIS. This way governments neighboring can survive and liberal democracies can be formed.

no it didnt. but Pakistan is hardly an example to follow for a democratic country like Israel.
if Iranian Syria is such a deal then maybe Israel should voice its concern in UN and open an embassy of IS in Israel? after all it is /was already running sorties in its support?

although looking at the subject.. I think the Israeli minister is a little bit insensitive specially looking at the recent killings in France and Egypt etc. claimed by IS..

Pragmatic point of view, altough, idiotic in the end.
insensitive and disgusting is the word that comes to mind. forget the deaths of countless numbers of Syrians and Iraqis.. the IS has killed hundreds of westerners in France and in holiday resorts in Africa . I know that Arab lives dont mean much to Israel but the West offers unqualified support to Israel...the least he can do is offer an explanation if not an apology in case someone in France is brave enough to take offence on behalf of victims killed at the hands of IS.

More than insensitive, he's satisfied with ISIS insurgencies plus attacks against France(for supporting Palestinian state newly). They don't get in trouble for it though, it's only controversial if non-Westerner said so. Imagine if this was the Saudi defense minister stating this openly....

That's what I said earlier we chose one of the three fighting groups in Afghanistan as the other two were backed by Indians and Iranians . And all these three groups originated from Mujahidin which were created by CIA so who is actual creator of Taliban?

As for arming Talibans is concerned well they didn't need any weapons from Pakistan and neither did we had any spare one's to give them . All the Mujahidin groups including Taliban were amply armed by your beloved CIA in 80's and considering Afghan history they all carry weapons even in times of peace so you cant blame Pakistan for creating or arming Talibans.

We merely chose one among three fighting kids on the basis of cultural and lingual ties and that's another thing later they came out to be stronger one's and defeated other two and claimed Kabul.

Israel want to annex the Golan and the immediate area. It will have an easy task with ISIS than with the SAA.

The Facts are that the United States supported the *Mujahedeen* vs the USSR.
CIA indeed provided Stingers and other material worth Billions of Dollars to the Mujahedeen.
When the USSR gave up, United States terminated their engagement and left Afghans
to decide for themselves, resulting in a civil war between different Warlords.
Gulbuddin Hekmyatar was one particularily nasty example.

Several Years after, Pakistan and ISI sought control over Afghanistan
and supervised the emergence of the Talibans.
The United States were long gone by then.

I have yet to see any sources indicating that the U.S. had anything to do with the Talibans.
Noone had heard about the Talibans until several years after the U.S. abandoned the area.

Much unlike Al-Quaeda which was formed by muslim mercenaries fighting in Afghanistan.
Certainly anyone fighting the Russians would have gotten support.
What they fid AFTER both USSR and the US left the area,is really their own responsibility.

There you go again with your obsession. I noticed you never answered my question in Syrian civil war section so I will ask again here. Just answer honestly, who more closely resembles ISIS? KSA or Iran?

After the Soviet withdrawal, Mujaheddin fought against each other. Ripped Afghanistan apart...Taliban arrived ...defeated others and brought a relative stability in Afghanistan.
Point is that the other choices (apart from Taliban) which Afghanistan had were worse.
But that is how people like to bark "Look Pakistanis supported Taliban". What this delusional lot believes is that the rapists and cut-throats of Massud or Dostum were angels who were fighting a war for freedom and democracy.
