Xi hails China, Pakistan as 'iron brothers'

We just need new hypersonic missiles from our Chinese friends now. Hope Chinese can provide all necessary assistance in this field.

Those are worthless without a full sensor suite.
Just like the super long ranged ballistic anti-ship missiles.

china has an army of drones, satellites, GPS system for that purpose. but others do not, only acquiring the expensive missiles but then using them at the minimum range is a waste of money.

allowing others full access to the chinese sensor network is an enormous security risk for china and in fact can drag china into a war it does not wish to join and had no plans to join.

so until other nations put in their own network of sensors i doubt any of the long range weapons, especially hypersonics will be exported.

@Indos Indonesia is between Australia & India, in light of QUAD do you think you country is a potential ally of Pakistan?

in past Indonesia always had good relations with pakistan even in 1965 war between india and pakistan Indonesia supported Pakistan and offered to militarily intervene in the conflict by attacking and seizing the Andaman and Nicobar Islands of india to open up a second front and relieve pressure on Pakistan, incase of a war between Pakistan + China against india, there is always an opportunity for Indonesians to seize these strategically located islands through joining hands with pak china ;)

I echo President Xi's sentiment. I have recently come to feel quite grateful to Pakistan - it deals with India so the rest of the world doesn't have to. It stands on the wall so we can sleep peacefully, free from the open defecation hordes. All of us owe Pakistan a debt of gratitude.

.
The thing is, the amount of trust between Pakistan China and Pakistan Turkey is very high and i dont see any country coming near to that level. Its all because of the long lasting friendship and test of time. It takes time for nations to come closer and develop trust.
The only other country that i think came or could have come closer to the level of trust we have with china and Turkey is saudi arabia. We had deep relations and trust but it went down with MBS coming in power. There still are very good relations.
Indonesia and malaysia both are very respected in Pakistan and we can certainly enhance our relations. We have alot in common. The only thing that can cause distrust would be their relationship with china. But i think we can overcome that. It also depends if these countries have independent foreign policy. See how quickly Pakistan and Malaysia came close when mahatir became PM. Now they r again tilting towards india.
Relationship with russia is different, we were not on good terms but our interests are alligned now. Pakistan seems ready to be close to Russia but depends on Russia how much they want the relationship to progress in contrast to india. Afghanistan, well thats complicated lolz.
In general Pakistan govt and ppl are very friendly and want good relations with all. Arabs are very respected by Pakistanis with the added religious brotherhood. The only spoiler is india .
Excellent post!

From a power POV obviously Russia may exert biggest influence, but apparently they are employing strategic ambiguity to S Asian affairs. One may say kinda neutral aka definitely not against Pak interests but yet to be explored.

KSA no doubt has been a Pak (along with Eygpt I suppose) benefactor for long time, and is expected to continue their support.

Among all other potential "allies" what interests me most is another power - Indonesia - perhaps the least mentioned of all due to their low profile in international affairs. I've briefly read some history on their involvements in say the 1965 war, and that compels me to think whether history will repeat itself, and how Pak-Ind defence tie will unfold in light of changing geopolitics say Quad. Quad could be just another group-photo session with no real substance, but India serving Aus-US-UK (perhaps even France) interests is becoming inevitable.

.
These two are no doubt, I'm more interested in how Pakistani view countries like Russia, Indonesia, KSA (or any Arab states that may be active in regional affairs), perhaps also Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan (well I know that's complicated), in the India threat context?

@Indos Indonesia is between Australia & India, in light of QUAD do you think you country is a potential ally of Pakistan?

I think Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Russia can not be Friends of Pakistan

All these three loves India for Money, You can watch statements of their politicians and majority of Bangladeshis and Afghanis people hate Pakistan and you can watch statements of Putin, he gave just to sell weapons when India changed status of Kashmir. Saudi is US puppet.

I even trust more on Iranis than Saudis, Afghanis or Bangalis. I think lot of people who will oppose me regarding Iranis are Wahhabis.

Iranians are neutral and can be bought around but the others I agree can't. At best we can be neutral towards Russia, Afghanistan and bangladesh.

Actually Indonesia interests me the most as well. Its the biggest Islamic country by population. They also have similar religious outlook as most Pakistanis. They can be great allies with huge trade and alot of people to people connection, yet a proper close relationship never developed. I have not read Indonesian history and politics deeply to understand their side. But i think it has alot to do with our inefficiency.
Now with quad and china, things are getting complicated. Indonesian people are not that fond of Australia and they have had issues. But on the other hand, Indonesia also have issues with china. Pakistan can certainly play a role if Pakistan can get Indonesia concessions from china in south china sea issues. Indonesia might as well get closer to west and US, depends on the political situation of Indonesia.
@Indos might give us his view on this.

What is he referring to?
I think its oil & gas exploration and extraction in Pakistan. remember, exxon was drooling over the opportunity to extract oil from Pakistani shores but Pakistani establishment with OGDC somehow screwed around with the numbers to make exxon back out. We wouldn't want american companies to dominate our oil & gas production, hence China comes in to help us produce our own oil and gas.

.
What is he referring to?

Chinese or East Asians as a whole speak more implicitly.
Xi meant that the cooperation between China and Pakistan has encountered some obstacles, but the Pakistani govt is reforming and dealing with these obstacles. China is willing to continue to support the Pakistani govt and continue the previous cooperation plan.

China has a large consumer market, good for Pakistan textiles industry,

I think, Pakistan has nothing meaningful to offer to Russia except the fabled warm waters which the Russians show no interest in.

For the past two decades, Russia has viewed Pakistan with the same view it has for Afghanistan which is that Pakistan doesn't become a Western sponsored trouble maker in Central Asia at some point in future.

China and Turkey our only 2 real allies.
These two countries are of course your friends, but not "only". You're too negative.
Those are worthless without a full sensor suite.

Pakistan has obtained the HQ9P. Obviously, they will be allowed to enter China's sensor networks when necessary.

China and Indonesia have no problem. China and Indonesia have only a small fishing area in dispute, there is no island dispute between China and Indonesia. Even Indonesia is China's most important investor in ASEAN.

Xi hails China, Pakistan as 'iron brothers'

Updated 16:12, 26-Oct-2021

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday hailed relations between China and Pakistan as between "iron brothers" in a phone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

President Xi said that history has proved that the two countries have always been each other's trustworthy "iron brother" no matter what changes the international landscape has undergone.

Given that the world is seeing more sources of instability and risk, the two countries should stand together more firmly, promote their all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and build a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, he said.

Xi said China supports Pakistan in exploring a development path that suits its own national realities and is ready to share the new opportunities that China's high-quality development has opened up.

Both sides should strengthen strategic communication, deepen the docking of development strategies and improve the exchanges of experience in governance, he said.

Xi pledged China will continue to assist Pakistan in its fight against COVID-19, build the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor with high quality and promote cooperation in agriculture, digital economy and other areas.

The two countries should also deepen cooperation in fighting terrorism and improving security, the Chinese president said. He added that they coordinate closely in practicing true multilateralism and in promoting international fairness and justice to safeguard the common interests of both sides and maintain world peace and stability.

For his part, Khan said he agreed with what President Xi said, and the world is faced with many major problems that require Pakistan and China to communicate closely and work together.

He said the relations between the two neighbors have withstood all tests and spoke highly of China's selfless assistance to his country during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pakistan staunchly pursues the one-China policy, firmly supports China's stance on such issues of its core interests as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang and human rights, and firmly backs the Global Development Initiative proposed by President Xi, Khan said.

He added that his country is also ready to work with China to promote the building of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor and other areas of cooperation.

Xi calls for building closer China-Pakistan community with shared future in new era

BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday urged China and Pakistan to build a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.

In his phone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, Xi also called on the two sides to stand together even more firmly and push forward the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two sides under the new circumstances. Enditem

must thank the Chinese for their patience with us.
we have failed to deliver our part of the deal re CPEC. their people have been repeatedly targeted and our corrupt and lazy officials drive them mad.

it would be good if select group Pakistanis are sent to China to train in the work efficiency and work ethic and bring back the motivation and drive to get things done with efficiency and pride.

why select group? because if we send people at random then there is a chance that our people might make them lazy, bore and complaining as well and bring their country down with us. :)

China is a worthy ally and the reason I say this is they are good long term planners example the en-circlement of India was a plan that was pending across decades example Pakistan won a proxy war in Sri-Lanka with the help of China alot people don't know this but the Tamil tigers were defeated and it was an India project which lay the ground work for Sri-Lanka joining the Sino-Pak camp and now China has bases there. The Sri-Lankan president frequently thanks Pakistan for their assistance and helping them achieve victory.

Bhutan remains the only country out of the full en-circlement which is about to be fullfilled soon. Having Pakistan, China, Central Asia, IEA and North Korea in one camp including other minor players in the SEA region is key outlook for the new era. India is cornered and regionally irrelevant and doesn't have land-link to Eurasia
