Have to say Wuhan looks more developed than Beijing, Beijing is a first tier city with third tier skylines.

Yes, the height limit really affected Beijing's skylines...
Wuhan's development is phenomenon during the past decade. I still remember back the days (early 2000s) when Wuhan was mocked by as 'big county town' or '大县城'.. And then it becomes like this:

I believe higher education plays an important role as Wuhan is one of the cities with some of the best universities. A lot of graduates will work in the city after graduation, and facilitate the development. With such foundation, I believe Wuhan will rise again very soon.
