[WOW] Huawei's HiSilicon Develops First RISC-V Design to Overcome Arm Restrictions

.
Dominate what?

Dominate in mass shootings & racial attack? :enjoy: If that what you mean, Yes I'm agree with that

China is leading in Quantum Communication, Artificial Intelligence, 5G, Autonomous Driving, Quantum Computing Technology, 6G research, Green Energy, etc

That's the facts everyone know and you cannot deny
You're posting that as if that makes my argument weak. Lmao.

The only one who has a good point is @Shabi1 , the rest of yall need to rethink your strategy, because resorting to whataboutisms, distraction tactics, or appeals to emotion doesn't really work.
Who is “we”?

Surely you’re not delusional enough to think you’re actually an ‘American’?
The tweet said "we" as in the general audience. You seem to have poor reading comprehension. Lol, try again.

Also, when did I ever say I'm American?
Will partially agree.
Nokia and Blackberry had the same approach that they would continue to dominate the scene for long but once serious competition happened we know what happened.
How long it would take and how much the share will erode, time will tell. If other Chinese manufacturers end up adopting Huawei tech it could be trouble,
In this case its US gov actions now ending US monopoly and allowing a threat to market share to emerge.
That's a fair assessment, and like you mentioned it's on the condition that manufactures end up adopting Huawei's tech.

You're right in that it's a wait and see situation, but I have this feeling that it's not gonna be an easy hill to climb for Huawei, as Huawei has to essentially start from scratch, where as Apple and Google already have mature and well known platforms specifically design for today's hardware.

Not just that, the US actually does take competition from China seriously, thus the bans and sanctions. The US is also increasing its investments as well, so its not like blackberry and Nokia who sat on their butts while Apple and Samsung overtook them.

WOW Huawei

There's nothing that "wow" about adopting the open source RISC-V architecture which took others before years to ponder and design.

Let's wait for more details of that supposedly new LoongArch processor that China has developed.

and has even released its first RISC-V board for Harmony OS developers.

HarmonyOS was supposed to be a new, microkernel-based OS but turned out to be yet another Android variation.

Do you know the price of "Independent" from USA imperialist? That's it, they deserve a WOW for their struggle! We are Chinese, not indian.

They are only a company but have an enemy of a Superpower country.
Even some small or medium countries will back down when get pressured by Superpower country like China & US.

But they didn't show the white flag, like american expected/want (US wants Huawei to close their HiSilicon Division) They say NO & Fvck to americans

And in the same time they keep growing and growing, their Net profit keep rising & they keep expanding their portfolio business

That's a Chinese culture spirit which really deserved a Wow

Maybe it's hard for people like you to understand that spirit. It's okay :-)

This Chinese RISC-V implementation is not revolutionary. I can say that no just as a general human but also as someone who has been designing a new processor of his own for some years.
Agree, Huawei has just adopted an open source architecture based on a wester platform., not like they created something new/revolutionary . I don't understand why some are being wowed like it was some groundbreaking new tech lol . The Chinese need to be willing to build their own new designs/platform from the ground up instead of always taking the easy way out. That will require huge investment but then again that's what they should do. Since the US this past years as shown that they have started taking the Chibese threat seriously and can ban them from western tech sources at anytime. So even this RISC-V is still based on western platform/designs/architecture. I see no reason for them to be so proud about such a thing to be honest.
Yeah, a superpower "communist" country like China where stock markets exist and people jump into steel furnaces after losing money after gambling in the stock market. :)
Come on dude. The chinese abandoned communism( very commendable of them to make such a drastic change of policy actually) since Mao's death, since it was a huge failure for them and made them so poor that they almost became one of the the sick men of Asia .
There is nothing communist in China, apart from the name which the party just keeps for official reasons. I don't see what they could change their name into, so they just kept the communist name that's all. Lol

Indeed.

The Chinese need to be willing to build their own new designs/platform from the ground up instead of always taking the easy way out.

They seem to have developed a new processor design / ISA called LoongArch ( two posts about it starting here ). I have been asking the Chinese members more details but they are avoiding or they don't know.

Well, designing a processor ( or operating system ) will not take more than paper-pen, computer files, discussions and perhaps whiteboards. And implementing and testing that processor design will not take more than a FPGA board connected to a computer which is not out of reach of most colleges anywhere. But yes, producing them in large numbers will take resource investment and the Chinese seem to have a processor fabrication plant in form of SMIC and also have developed the machine need to make the chips ( info in a post after the ones I linked above ).

Since the US this past years as shown that they have started taking the Chibese threat seriously and can ban them from western tech sources at anytime. So even this RISC-V is still based on western platform/designs/architecture.

Agree.

The USSR was also managed by a communist party but the USSR was not so poor. And "poor" is a relative term. Life can be generally good if living in a society which is mostly self-sufficient, like the USSR was.

And we must ask if any country was communist at all. Below is google's result for "Communism" :
Communism is a philosophical, social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of a communist society, namely a socioeconomic order structured upon the ideas of common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money, and the state.Wikipedia
So-called communist countries have been administered by parties which is not really what Communism desires i.e. "People ruling themselves" - Direct Democracy guided by leftist thought. And there economic systems were not communist.

However, Libya's direct democracy political system can be called communist.

And I have proposed a progressive economic system in this thread.

I don't see what they could change their name into, so they just kept the communist name that's all. Lol

LOL.

Hey dude, no wonder many Chinese see indian as a degradation of humanity. Your post just show the true color of that

Of course every people from many nation have their own problems. But at least they are not like indian who give their children sewer water from Gangga to drink and take mass bathub in that sewer ☹ And thinking that's good.

A whole new way to mass suicide heh?

I am a Muslim Communist. I don't see why you should post this for me.

You can claim anything on this forum.

I can claim, I'm martians with lamborghini in this forum :enjoy:
He's actually a die hard Indian communist(and Muslim at the same time, yes I know irony. Lol ). If you have been on this forum for years you will know that . In fact he's the type your Mao would have been proud of. 😆 he wants you guys to act more like the name your Parry has I.e communist party and put it practice. 😆 he doesn't understand that even your Party understood long ago that that model has been a failure. Lol

RISC-V is an open source.

USA has ZERO control over this unlike Google version of Android.

Even Android is open source. Harmony OS is also based on Android, it's just it's not free when being used commercially.
When Huawei starts manufacturing chips using RISC V architecture, it first needs to find a foundary already manufacturing using that architecture and test infrastructure for it.
Second being US origin, US govt still has control over it.
RISC V is an open source architecture that originated at UC Berkeley but is owned by the nonprofit RISC-V foundation in Switzerland.

Doesn't matter. If the origin is US, then it is subject to US laws. See my above post for more details. I come from the industry and I have an idea of what I am talking about.

Is open source so is not subject to US export laws, because nothing is being sell, is a non profit foundation compose by multiple companies including Chinese ones. The US government control over RISC-V is almost the same as the Chinese control over RISC-V, the foundation can kick out every Chinese company but nothing will stop the Chinese from making and selling their own RISC-V processor.
That say, It could be illegal for a third company sell risc-v designed processors to Huawei but is not illegal for Huawei to design their owns.
I am not an expert but i don't think the processor ISA define the semiconductor manufacturing process like the microarchitecture does.

Everything that US origin will not have US control on it. can US control who uses english language and who doesnt? or can even England control that ? can china control who talks chinese and who doesnt ? Open source means just that open source. The reason they have an organization is to volunteeily control the updates and have some quality process around it. Like oracle voluntarily does for Java.

And Huawei is free to make an Android fork as long as it doesn't use GMS.

What US origin? RISC-V is legally Swiss.

BTW what the hell are you mumbling about?
Stop trolling and humiliating youtself.
This shows the subject of RISC-V is beyond you.
