Abbotabad: Sikandar Mehmood Baloch, a fourteen year old student studying in 9th standard has dozens of certificates awarded to him for his extra-ordinary mind work and development in Information Technology.

He is now an certified expert in 107 computing languages working on 15 new ones. He has been honored with 25 certificates from several companies including Google, Microsoft and Adobe.

Sikandar has designed 122 softwares including 7 Linux operating systems, (From VVS1 to VVS7) and Anti-Virus, though it must be noted that he isn’t the first Pakistani student who has achieved this target (two Pakistani youngsters developed Anti-Virus software named IVK earlier). Adding to his achievements are two applications he designed for Youtube and Google.

He is now holding the record of youngest person to create an Operating System (at age 9).

Another feather in the cap – Umema Adil a 13 year old girl from Pakistan has been titled as world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional in ASP.NET.

Pakistan already grasps two Microsoft Certified Professionals with ‘world’s youngest’ titles.

Arfa Karim at the age of 9 became World’s Youngest MCP and then Babar Iqbal – a 12 year old student got four world records as Youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) at the age 9 years, Youngest Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) at the age 9 years and Youngest Certified Web Professional Associate (CIWA) at age 10 years.

Umema Adil from Karachi has been certified as world’s youngest MCP at the age of 13 and she is certified in ASP.NET – programming language used to develop web-based applications.

This young talented student is now giving lectures on entrepreneurship and blogging and is determined to build a career of her own.

Apart from the field, she has been actively participating in extracurricular activities as well. She is excellent in naat recitation and has won a total of 60 certificates and shields till now, including four times the City District’s All Karachi Naat Competition; twice the All Sindh Naat Competition, All Pakistan Naat Competition and recently, Sindh Hamd-o-naat Award.

Pakistan have great Talent.

He is From Abbottabad? thats great ...

---

Yes he is:

Pakistani wonder child has made history after creating seven Microsoft and Google certified computer operating systems in a suburb of Abbottabad.

The 14-year-old student, Sikandar Mehmood Baloch, lives in Bilal Town in Abbottabad. Sikandar not only became a certified expert of 107 computer engineering languages at a young age but has also received certificates of his achievements from Microsoft and performed work for Google.

Same old , none sense

First it was engineering(Civil) and being Doctor now its being an IT engineer

The bottom line is that

We don`t have enough

a) Hardware engineers
b) Electronics engineers
c) Communication engineers
d) Optics engineer
e) Mechanical Engineering (Engines , Turbines )
f) Aeronautics

We do the theory and then there is no follow up no where by outside for talent to go ... even with doctors do they practice new
medicine discovery or new procedures no ... all of this is done outside

That is why we can`t create a motherboard or chip or engine in country ..

I don`t consider IT certification as anything but a fad

Its nothing but memorizing , definitions from a book

This kid is impressive as he mastered so many programming languages but my suspicion is that he could have been perhaps a genius mathematician or Physicist perhaps pushed into IT by his parents ...

May be he could have been a PHD student , researching a future discovery due to his talent
but because his parents pushed him into Computers .. that PHD will never evolve because he only spent time studying Microsoft Books as oppose to going to University and getting degree and then PHD

Difference between Microsoft Books and University Education is that that University forces you to come up with Solution , and think and create while Microsoft Books give you the answer and expect you to memorize the step by step progression.

But may be the Fab is fueled by the fact only jobs in Pakistan are IT .. and as always our nation looks at short term perspective , these kids will be next generation of low cost labor to go work in Middle east or take their skills out side

Example:
Pakistan lets say trains 10,000 youth in IT certification from Microsoft great for 2-3 years after that
their knowledge is sought after , but then what Microsoft comes up with new technology and guess what all those 10,000 youth are useless they need to redo their studies

Vs PHD education, you do research , you gain recognition and you become and expert you push the limits of science and discovery , you actual work on a unsolved problem in world. The knowledge you gain gets published in world science magazines. You become a true expert in your field

If Microsoft gets destroyed or Google's servers crash , guess what you are still an expert in your field

The standard of Education are Universities and Libraries and our universities lack funding and we do not have a mega library we can be proud of which houses books from all fields of science and arts
And we all know Higher Education Commission in Pakistan created by Musharaf was disbanded or denied funds by PPP because they outlawed some politicians

If we look at Iran , they have focused on PHD's and we see the advancement in Science in Iran , we have stopped producing PHD scientist

What would be our potential if we can retain just 2 generation of graduates and properly educate them and give them proper jobs in Pakistan

According to the survey which was carried out by US, the most intelligent people in the world are Pakistani people.

The comment I made does not discredits what the young person achieved I just feel that if he was actually pursuing University PHD studies or R&D that would be his full potential
