Wolol this is like how everything in India is named after the Gandhi family.

On topic, looks wonderful, at least one city in South Asia look world class.

Colombo is and will remain my favourite major subcontinental city.

I also think the design will look out of place.. Especially around the environs.. McCallum Road where the site is surrounded by colonial and tropical "Bawa" inspired architecture ( The Gangarama temple in the Beira lake).. This tower looks straight out of a Chinese made lego set

.

Actually it's getting worse.. In the past most middle class Lankans used to ridicule the antics of Indian politicians especially those retired actors turned politicians in South India and the likes of Maywathi etc.. To the extent of being condescending

This generation of Lankan politicians have taken the depths to a new level.. With murderers, Rapists, Drug Smugglers and Prostitutes been given a free hand by the regime to keep power.. What a slap in the face for us

If this is what it really looks like, then it is very beautiful! I cannot understand why people are calling it ugly, when humans are left with no choice but to make concrete jungles to accommodate the ever increasing population.

These buildings look so full of life!

Also, with all the birds that come to live there, the residents won't need an alarm clock in the mornings

No doubt.. But how long can that infrastructure development can be sustained without human development when bad governance, Total breakdown of law and order and nepotism is unprecedented.. Not even during the war years had it been this bad

Machun have you noticed the jokers running for locals elections from the ruling party this time ?? Does'nt that tell you something??

lol yeah, we will have some sexy ladies for this local election too....:D

Exactly.. WTF!!! The country is not some **** industry is it.. What do these woman have to do with politics except sell thier bodies.. Seriously dude !!

Except you guys have better roads and infrastructure overall :D

The socialist forms of governments that existed right after independence in both Kerala and Ceylon contributed immensely to the high social developments both states enjoy.. In terms of HDI (literacy, nutrition etc).. But Sri Lanka changed in to the capitalist system of governance in the early 80's and this led to massive investment in infrastructure (if not to the 30 years of war the country would be even much ahead)

But Kerala still seems to be stuck in the socialist system where micro level human development is still seems to be the norm, Hence the lag in infrastructure developement..

I have been to Cochi an Tivandrum twice and at no where in the world have i encountered so much similarities to the island.. Surprising given the proximity to TN than Kerala

Yes. The Kerala politics alternates between Communists and Congress.

Kerala recently has tried to industrialise, amid heightened opposition. I believe the communists where necessary in terms of dealing with a caste system that was one of the most hideous even in India. But the modern world requires a more pragmatic approach.

Hopefully it will come from more opening up the economy more.

Kerala historically had been part of Tamil Nadu many times. But we are for all intensts and purposes very different and the states do sometimes are at loggerheads.
