World's tallest building to be erected in Saudi Arabia​

MOSCOW, April 15 (RIA Novosti) - The world's tallest building, the 1-mile high Kingdom Tower, will be built in western Saudi Arabia, Arab media have reported.

The skyscraper, expected to cost $30 billion, will be erected in Obhur, some 30 kilometers north of Jeddah City on the Red Sea's eastern coast, media reports said.

It will take 12 minutes to get to the top of the building by elevator. The project stipulates the construction of an 8.9 square mile city around the Kingdom Tower which can accommodate 80,000 residents and about one million visitors, reports said.
Kingdom Tower, which will host offices, a hotel and residential areas, will be almost double the height of the world's tallest building, the 0.51-mile Burj Khalifa in Dubai. It will also exceed Dubai's 0.62-mile Nakheel Harbor and Tower whose construction has been put on hold.

The first thing that comes to any Muslims mind when hearing about these buildings is that hadeeth when the prophet ( صلى الله عليه و سلم ) was asked about the signs of the hour, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم ) said: "That slave women give birth to their mistresses; and that you see barefoot, unclothed, shepherds competing in the construction of tall buildings."

and why would the Skyscraper owner buy weapons instead ? and even if he would im pretty sure civilians are not allowed to buy weapons in the kingdom .

leave him alone dear he dont know what he is talking abut. saudi is free to use his money as they like .when they seen tall towers in pakistan they say great and when others make such things they remember poors.damn look at pakistani towers and pakistani poors first

Long lists of other beautiful buldings in the arab world.

Arabs have lost scense of direction the first place.. "tall building" and "tall male organ" is their only pride in the world.. 30 billions could end with a little shake of the earth or offensive missile by the enemy but "yes we have the tallest" gives them satisfaction which nothing would.

I wish those 30 billions were invested on Education and Arabs were able to produce 300000 sharpest and highest brains of the world which would help Saudis above 30 nations in next 20 years with that money but not everybody wants to grow taller.. some are happy when their little thing grows only. Insane!

Instead spend the money on the people of Saudi Arabia, they need it more. They could do so much more if only the government spent money on the people's welfare and education, such potential will be lost in 50 years as Saudi oil runs out. The area will be left with outdated luxury and illustrate population.

Dubai made it's building so it can be extended; I don't know their limits but they will surely not let anyone pass them as their oil is running in 2015 and they need to encourage tourism to compensate, for the lack of money that will ensue.

It saddens me to see such potential and the Muslim countries being ruined by dictators.

There plenty of time in the future to make the worlds tallest building because as soon as the S. Arabs are done someone else will take over the record, just wait and beat it some other day.
