Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon, MP said, Cox’s Bazar Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium and Sport Complex will be a number one international cricket stadium in the country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate stadium February 23 as chief guest. The BCB president stated it after visiting the development work of the newly built stadium at about 3 pm on yesterday.
A BCB delegation came to see the conditions of newly building Cox’s Bazar Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium and Complex. He told reporters that5 they will discuss with the PM to provide assistance for the completing development work for building the largest cricket stadium of Bangladesh. The BCB delegation moved around the stadium and inspected the newly laid wicket and other available facilities.
Earlier, the BCB had decided to organise the World ICC T20 Women’s cricket matches here. But the ICC did not approve the stadium as the authority could not do progress work within the stipulated time.
Members of the visit team were ICC representative and director of BCB Mahbub Anam, BCB director Lokman Hossain, Dr IH Mallik, manager of Bangladesh cricket team M A Awal Chowdhury, media manager Jalal Younus, BCB Cox’s Bazar District Councillor Mahmudul Karim Madhu and Sheikh Sohel. It will have 100,000 crowd capacity which will put in 3rd position after Kolkata Eden Garden Stadium and Melbourne Stadium.
