World will hear more from Indians

Its amazing how so many Indians and Chinese actually get along very well. I was in Singapore last year for my studies, and it is surprisingly easy for Indians and Chinese to get along there. I had Chinese friends and Singaporean friends of Chinese origin myself, and we all used to hang out. It was effortless to make friends there.

Also, if you notice, Indians and Chinese get along better in Western countries as well. We have a lot more in common than people think. I think culturally and behaviour-wise we have more in common with each other than with westerners or Africans

The fact is, we don't even need to make an effort to get along, but some people are insistent on making an effort not to get along. Its as if all the negativities are intensified in an online forum.

Sometimes just a little bit of introspection, consideration and common sense not to 'jump the gun' is enough to keep any arguments to a minimum.

I agree completely.

Its not just in western countries or places like Hong Kong.....there is huge number of settled Chinese origin people in Kolkata too ....one of the most communally and culturally tolerant places in India.....and they with their families gel very well with people of all communities....several of my Chinese friends are quite amiable , jovial and fun loving ..... and we get along well in groups....

I Have a different Point of view on the reasons of such freindliness and camaraderie in some cases and hostility in some other. Just like two groups of boys living in the same housing society & fighting each other over petty cricket match disputes come together in an act of camaraderie and solidarity against any hooligans from other society. Reason (in this case)- pride and security. Like wise, we Indians are Gujrati, marathi, North Indians, South Indians and what not. We have cultural differences, Ideological differences etc but when it comes to external threat, we all stand together. Similarly, we are Indians, Chinese, Pakistani, but while living in Western countries, we are clubbed together as South asians/Asians, its natural we come together as friends. Maybe in future, aliens will attack earth and whole world will stand together as one forgetting all our differences.

We are all Humans and its natural that we can gel together, eat together, be freinds, companions, mates everything. we are not a different species. We, as humans are infact rare species, only one species (Homo Sapiens as we are called) have survived in a comparatively short history of Humans as against life on earth.

The 'Baggage' of the fraught history of conflict between China and India is "probably" carried only by Politicians in the respective countries and maybe some other people who "love" to dwell with the ghosts of the past.
From my many experiences in China, a large part of the younger generation of Chinese are very clearly focussed on their future, which is indeed so refreshing.Never once did i even remotely get the sense that we (they & i) represented two counties that had fought a war. Though they were in a position of having to learn from me; both they and i came away from each of those experiences with respect and affection. i must add that we were professionals aiming to develop and hone our professional skills; not academics full of great intellectual knowledge and scholarship. But, undoubtedly we were the happier and wiser for that.
IMHO, therein lies the future for both countries in their quest to seek their destiny.

Yes indeed. Does it not display some maturity; a maturity that should come so easily and naturally to two countries that have a long history, a past that is so full of great achievements in so many fields.
There has been a "blip" in our relationship in the past, we need not deny that. But should that "blip" that spanned a few years; be allowed to erase or even over-ride a history of some centuries?
Is there anybody who contributed to the 'positive sentiment' on this thread feeling regretful or disturbed after moving away from his/her keyboard?
Both countries are DESTINED to do bigger and better things for themselves and for the world at large. Let us not lose sight of that; not now, not ever.
