There is no doubt America is a super power and will be so for foreseeable future as they have tremendous soft power. China even if it surpasses USA economically it will remain merchential power it is today.

The human history tells us that once you becomes an economic superpower evertything else will naturally come with it. Money talks.
But not with china . It's tendency of Middle Kingdom arrogance and horrible diplomacy has left it with only two most successful countries in the world NK and Pak as allies and even here NK seems to be not under control of china . So yeah super power will remain dream for china.

China has not achieved a world power status yet, I am talking about the near future once China gets there all things will come along with the economic might, check the rise of UK and US in the history, it's not hard to get it.

I think the former Chinese president claimed that China will be a Supa Powa by 2012. If their president is so arrogant, what can you expect out of their PDF members? The whole country is so obsess about becoming a superpower that it's sad. They have more people defecating in the open than the whole sub-Saharan Africa but in their mind, nothing is more important than being affirmed as a Supa Powa by their British colonial master.
