Bangladeshi passion for home football team was legendary. The Abahani-Mohammedan rivalry was tremendous during 1980s-1990s.Millions of people followed them and frequent street clash and holiganism between their supporter was common thing.Then our national team was much stronger then now so was the club football. Frequent multi national tournament arranged in Bangladesh.Then cricket came, took the spotlight.Subsequently football started to decline.Now it is just a pathetic shadow of it's energetic past.But people continue to maintain their passion for quality football. That's why these type of madness about Brazil, Argentina or Germany.When I was in hostel, I saw many students waking up in the mid night to see the European club football. Football craze is very big in Bangladesh. During the FIFA world cup, crime rate in Bangladesh fall substantially.
