World Bank cancels aid to Pakistan

LOL 7.5 is peanuts.PIA looses that much in a day i think.Besides make no mistake Pakistan will survive just fine without any aid (Hey British Still give indian millions of pounds in AID why don't get you reject it) and IMF is loan which will be returned to IMF with interest. So Indians don't worry our economy is improving and coming out of recession.I know you will be happy because of this news and think Pakistan Economy will crash because of 7.5 lac dollars.

oh what, really u lose thats much amount every day,7.5 million per day amounts to some 2.7 billion per day, then really we dont need bagram anymore,u will :hang2: urself:flame:

I think its 7.5 laks not 7.5 million.
Its good that WB cancel dat aid cuz v kno all the aids n loans taken in the name of Pakistan is never spend on Pakistan, all money goes to corrupt polititions bank accounts. If the money wud ve spend on Pakistan, today Pakistan wud b like any European country.Once US ambassador said Pakistan probs will never b solved even if we(US) give thm trillions $. = corrupt rulers n polititions.
Long Live Pakistan:pakistan:

Wow India again:lol:

BTW why dont you reject US aid which is more than your whole defence budget??:lol:

And please read the topic it says Aid cancelled and not aid rejected

and finaaly we can see how your economy is improving:lol::lol:

The US aid 7 billion is for 7 years. Our defense budget for fiscal year of 2010-11 is 8 billion. So get your facts straight. Our exports alone for 2009 were $17.87 billion.

dont worry guys IMF will give funds if tis aid is rejected..whats the issue here ???

you see nowadays IMF getting more funds to give loans to needy countries....

India lends billions to IMF...:pop:

No impact on fisc as India lends to IMF

sabka kalyan ho...jai ho !!

If this is the case they why is your country the biggest recipient of British aid and has been for a long time.

making India, by a very long way, the largest single recipient of British aid.

Did Britain really need to give millions to the wealthy state of Singapore? - Telegraph

It is our internal matter. Our country our economy. If we think if it is better for us if they don't give us this "huge" 7.5 million aid then why are you vomiting your verbal diarrhea.

In short it is our internal issue. Better if you don['t put your as* in it.

Nobody is putting anything .. we both discuss each others problem and this is not the first time. Its clear from the sources that it was due to bad governance that the aid got itself canceled where Japan was the actual donor. Getting an aid is not a shameful thing . Countries including US have taken money from the world bank.

Instead of discussing the core issues people are engaging in finding alternatives like IMF and talking - we don't need that money and all.

Well there is a saying "Little drops of water , little grains of sand makes the mighty ocean and And the beauteous land. ".

India’s economy is about 50% bigger than Britain’s, but India’s population (1.1 billion) is 18 times more than UK’s (60.7 million). UK’s GNI per capita is US $37,600. India’s GNI per capita: US $720, which means it is at least 50 times less than that of UK.

India on the surface of it looks richer than UK. And logically, it’s India that should send help to UK. But India has more social troubles than UK; some are almost non-existent in UK like illiteracy. The exception can be among old immigrants, especially those from Asia.

In India, there are still regions and population that still live in primitive conditions compared to the 21st development.

On many occasions, even very rich nations needed international help in times of disaster. The USA received outside help after Katrina Hurricane. Germany did the same when faced with flood some years ago. China wouldn’t have coped well after the recent earthquake without the massive international aid.

The Indian government still lacks full resources to help its entire people. UK still has an obligation to help its helpless population on humanitarian grounds. International help is a means of strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.

Indians living and working in UK are also helping UK economy through their high skills and economic enterprises. So the help given to India shouldn’t be seen as a waste of money but as a means to strengthen the relations between the countries. UK aid to India totaled £1billion. But surely UK gets more than that in its economic exchange with India.

So let’s say, every pound donated to India as aid will be returned by 10 pounds through commercial exchanges.

I guess i have answered your query T-Faz.

Yeah I know all that but I was responding to the derogatory tone used by some Indians. Discussions without derogatory language and grandiose claims is always welcome.

:)

It happens all the time for WB projects mostly due to implementation constraint or sometimes conditional difficulties imposed by WB. anyways Life goes on...

0.75 million dollars?

you mean only 0.75 million dollars

you mean 750,000 dollars only

who cares :D

I don't know whats worse. The fact that this made the papers or the fact that ever tom, dick and harry from the indian membership of our community has come to take dibs on Pakistan.

The conduct on some people on this fourm is really quite pathetic and truly exemplifies the maturity ratio of some members of the communtiy.

$750,000.. Oh good merciful god, that will be so missed. Yeah sure. Good Riddance.

[Rubbing eye] Are we really wasting our time here talking about $750,000 of "aid"?

This is a pittance and not worthy of two pages of discussion. Please. Move on.

Taxing agriculture is a very tough thing to do in countries like our where there are many individuals owning little land compared to that in the Western countries...

@Others : Any other realistic approach for this?

There was a proposal in my state to lease all the small lands to private companies -> Better profits less work for farmers and taxable income for the government.. As you know the motion did not go through

Taxing agricultural income is a political "hot potato". The politicians don't want to do it because the farmers who can afford to pay taxes are close to the political parties or are the politicians themselves. The existing exemption allows for a lot of money laundering. While there are many farmers with small land holdings, they will be exempted from taxation anyway because they will com below the minimum taxation slab.
Therefore a large source of income for government(s) is lost.
