Star Chinese swimmer Qin Haiyang broke the men's 200-meter breaststroke world record on Friday to cap a stunning campaign at the World Aquatics Championships with his third individual gold medal in Fukuoka, Japan.

Qin, who won 50m and 100m golds in Fukuoka earlier in the week, became the first man in history to win all three breaststroke events at a single edition of the world championships, joining the pantheon of global pool legends at just 24.

Australia's former world-record holder Zac Stubblety-Cook had to settle for silver after finishing 0.92 seconds behind Qin, with the United States' Matt Fallon taking bronze in 2:07.74.
Another Chinese swimmer, 18-year-old Dong Zhihao, set a world junior record of 2:08.04 to impressively finish fourth in his world championships debut.

Also a member of China's gold-winning mixed 4x100m medley relay team on Wednesday, Qin is the first Chinese male swimmer to collect four gold medals at a single edition of the worlds, eclipsing the previous record of three titles won by freestyle specialist Sun Yang at the 2013 edition (400m, 800m and 1,500m).

People cried foul in the Chinese social media after obvious unfair scoring against the Chinese twins, who had consistently won almost all world titles since 2017.
The gold went to host Japanese swimmers.

Yesterday, the Chinese twins won gold in the Asian Game in Hangzhou, a very fast revenge from the world swimming championship in Japan just a couple of months ago

Chinese twin sisters Wang Qianyi and Wang Liuyi excelled to win the duet gold medal on Saturday. Their jungle-themed performance sent them to the top of the podium, cementing the fifth duet gold in a row for China at the Asian Games.

They used creative leg kicks and impressive throws in both their technical and free routines, both of which displayed the highest degrees of difficulty compared to other competitors.

They finished the competition with a combined score of 526.8620, more than 37 points ahead of silver medalists Mashiro Yasunaga and Moe Higa of Japan. Kazakhstan's Arina Pushkina and Yasmin Tuyakova took the bronze with a total of 418.6987.

"We have an advantage in that we look alike, and we move in similar ways because we grew up together," said Wang Qianyi. "My goal is to stand on the Olympic stage with my sister."
