So you guys want freedom from India only or sri lanka as well. I haven't seen Sinhalis with a positive image of Indians either. So both Tamil and Sinhalese hate them?

Obviously, India which has 70m Tamils. except for Indian sycophants masquerading as Tamils in PDF (e.g Tambrahmins and TamGultis) , genuine Tamils in TN want independence ...

how can Tamils not hate India or what is there for them to 'love India" ? There is no shared history, culture etc between Tamils and Indians furthermore India has been oppressing Tamils' culture and rights since independence

FYI majority of Tamilnadu major politicians (Dravidian or National parties ) are non Tamils

Sri Lanka too faces the same problem - the Kandy elites are Tamilnadu Gultis (aka Nayaks, nayake etc) who converted to Buddhism to take Sinhala identity , using poor Sinhala natives as cannon fodders for them to remain in power

The Nayaks of Kandy (a.k.a. Kandy Nayak Dynasty) were the rulers of Sri Lanka with Kandy as their capital from 1739 to 1815. They were also the last dynasty to rule Sri Lanka. They were related to the Madurai Nayak dynasty[1] and to the Tanjore Nayak dynasty

Actually it is more likely to be Tamil /Tamil Muslim ( Distinctive sub group among Lankan Muslims with origins to TN, Coromandel coast in Andra and Malabar in Kerala).. So he/she definitely has something to with Tamil

Lankan Moors and Malays have very little to do with Tamil nationalism, Nor do any Moor identify themselves as Tamil

He cannot even differentiate between Tamil and Kannada alphabets .

In one another thread he was showing off Kannada as Tamil .

So really doubt he has anything to do with Tamil .

The oldest script is around 6000-5000 years old, from Mesopotamia.
Not really!
writing systems like Jiahu and Vinca signs are 8000years old, I'm talking about the ones which were deciphered successfully.
Archeologists have not been able to date and decipher many Indian scripts as of yet.

To native speakers like you probably.. But i'd say it's one of the most unpleasant languages to hear
Well....that is your call and I disagree.

Don't take it personal mate, I understand you don't like the language but that does not make tamil a bad language. My post was just to ease tensions that was created by the OP.
My mother tounge is Malayalam but I am no less a tamil and love, enjoy and appreciate all Indian languages equally.

CHENNAI:Just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was recalling the age-old cultural and business relations between South Korea and India in Seoul on Monday, Kyungsoo Kim, Consul General of South Korea in Chennai, revealed that his country indeed had a link with Tamil Nadu from the first Century AD., at a function held at Fort St George. Speaking at the inauguration of exhibition titled Museums of India and Korea, Kim said strong evidence to this connection lay in the common words used in Korean and Tamil languages even today. He narrated an interesting incident that took place just a day before, on Sunday, when he was visiting Mahabalipuram. As he was walking along the sea-shore, Kim heard his son calling him. When he turned back, he realised that it was not his son, but another child who was calling him Appaa. He learned, to his surprise, that the two languages shared some common words.

In all, he claimed, there were around 4,000 words in Korean and Tamil that had similar meaning, indicating the age-old connection between the two countries. It was the French missionaries in Korea who first noted the similarities between the two languages. Many of the names of ancient colonies of Southern Korea were the exact counterparts of Tamil words.

This is just diplomatic language.

Sorry to break it to you guys, but stop living in your bubble.

There is nothing special about India, or Sanskrit, or Tamil, or Chinese, or Persian, or anything.

Also, there are many words that are common in many languages.

As far as I know, Aayi is a word common to Chinese and Southern Languages.

Few words and sounds here and there mean nothing, largely because they could have evolved independently, or simply be left overs of migration routes.

Also Tamil isn't the oldest surviving language. The old Tamil of late may as well be almost completely different from today's Tamil, and people won't be able to even recognize it any more.

Languages come, they evolve, and all serve their purpose along the way.

Stop being so pathetic Cultural Chauvinists.

Both Sanskrit and Tamil are Indian languages and Indian civilization is the oldest surviving civilization.

Regarding Sanskrit then its clearly visible that during the invasion of Alexander the invading army came into touch with sanskrit and have loaned sanskrit words.

What do you mean by Indian Civilization?

There is no clear distinction between any two civilizations.

You are arrogant, a cultural Chauvinists. There are Chinese that are as well. They rather had much closer linguistic history across the land than India.

India of today is a amalgamation of many lands of yester years. Something tells me that when Ashoka was conquering nearby states, those states weren't all too pleased, and considered him his friend.

They fought each other as enemies, and different people, and probably hated each other.

Both Sanskrit and Tamil are Indian languages and Indian civilization is the oldest surviving civilization.

Regarding Sanskrit then its clearly visible that during the invasion of Alexander the invading army came into touch with sanskrit and have loaned sanskrit words.

No there is loads of evidence that there was continuous contact between North Indians and Europeans, and more than that a lot of evidence, that North Indian, and European languages derived from the same proto type language.

Genetic Evidence further confirms a lot of points put forth by the Aryan Invasion Theory.

Nice to meet you friend, and thanks for the detailed response. I am also from a place called Lucknow which is occupied by India. A lot of us were killed by the Indians including some people I know. Many of us never gave up on our right to self determination or merger with Pakistan. I am a staunch Pakistani despite being the son of parents born in what became Indian territory, Lucknow, Kakori, FirangiMahal, Barabanki, Fatehpur, Rohillakhand are all pieces of our land which they have taken. So I can feel some of the pain you feel.

It is often hard for people to live without a proper nation to call their own, for example the kashmiris but what keeps us strong is the idea that we will one day gain the right to govern ourselves, which is perhaps the basic right of each and every being (and for my case merge those lands with Pakistan).

The death of one person at Indian hands allowed me to understand mostly what Pakistan actually means to us. How we have squandered the freedom, the equality we have received in Pakistan. My biggest beef with relatives on Pakistani side of the border is that we ourselves became trapped in petty concepts and problems not looking at what we had gained and before long we were demanding extra rights. In no country you get extra rights. You have to prove yourself.

Anyway nice talk.

Yes there are Tamil muslims too but isn't the majority Hindu. Does the Hindu majority too have a negative view of India? In any case Sri Lanka is a rich country with people of many colours and religions. By the way we Pakistanis slammed the door on our own foot. Sri Lanka had on arrival visas for us but I heard due to Pakistani misuse of this policy the doors were closed shut on us. Now its just a bunch of African countries that have on arrival visas for us.
