Work on stealth frigates( P-17A) for Navy to start next year at Mazagon Docks

What will be IN's plan after p15b & p17a?will they go for new hull based destroyers & frigates or same hull design with more refined super structure.

For destroyers, it will be most likely refined design with a clearer deck and single mast. For frigates... P17A will continue its production run far more than 10 years from today, so hard to say. But most likely , you will see two batches of smaller frigates in the line of Talwar class , each with 3 vessels likely over next 10 years as we strengthen our Eastern and Far south eastern fleets.

I for one doubt any smaller frigate( apart from follow on Talwar class if ever materialised).

There will be proper frigates for sure, if not more Talwars then enlarged Karnortas, navy has put forward its need for proper frigates which carry out the escort and other duties at, a cheaper cost.
And Navy has also put up the point that " To optimise the use of funds to operate the naval assets to perform the envisioned tasks of navy, tasks which frigates perform will cost the navy more when it does it with destroyers or pseudo destroyers like Shivalikh class. And it will yet be more cost effective when Navy increases its numbers and capabilities in the Southern command and the far south eastern ( A&N). "
My words might not be the exact replica of words used , but this point has been raised . And from here I derive that navy is looking for 4-6 multirole frigates , with a 4,500 tons weight frigate capable of undertaking independent missions .

No concrete idea ATM. But there was an article few days( or months) back where It was said that India might go for 'cruisers' post P-15B. But all these are pure speculations at the moment and should be taken with pinch of salt.
Sounds logical, a heavy cruiser can have lot of guided missiles nd other ammunitions in its belly,it can act as our nirbhay missile carrier(minimum 90+)

Rbu is a anti submarine mortar system. They doesn't really fit for application in this 21st century where submarines are fitted with long range torpedoes.

Dude, RBU is still a perfect close range weapon against subs, ships and incoming Torpedos, Navy is well aware of it, otherwise they'd have removed it long ago, anyway if you think its compromising the stealth then there's are ways to hide them when not in use. but simply removing would compromise the fire power which we don't want to do
