I don't believe state has the right to interfere in religious matters, as long as there is no harm being done. If a temple has certain limitations, then the state has no right to force it to change its' laws.

Rights of women and discrimination against them is a real issue. However, I don't think protesting a religious establishment's peculiar rules will change anything in society or change the mindset of people who oppress women.

Religion, amongst others, is one of the easiest things to exploit for political gains and votes. Seems like the case in this situation as well.

If this statement is real, Hinduism obviously need to evolve with the changing times.

No dude, Regarding Ayyappan (Hindu god in Sabarimalai) He is a god who has taken a oath to follow brahmacharya, So no ladies are allowed to visit the temple.
But now I think by the christian missionaries and CPM party this statement is being spread, Saying they are not allowing women inside this temple because they feel women of age are unclean, that is not the truth.
