Woman Stoned to Death For Having a Cell Phone

Yara, first of all, these stupid Panchayat's are there due to no recourse to justice in the first place. Tell me something, did ANYONE till date get justice from courts on Pakistan?
You are right! It is the inability of the judicial system which has forced people to rely on the panchait system
I don't know of any. It's all corrupt to the core.

Although I agree with you that members of this particular Panchayat should be stoned to death, however, CJ has no moral standing to even open his mouth. He, most definitely, is one of the MOST corrupt people to walk on the surface of this planet. If anyone needs to be stoned to death is him. First and foremost.
Do you think it was right of musharaf to oust him if he is this corrupt?

 this shows she is an Indian after all. as ignorant about Pakistan as a common Indian.

Indians vs pakistanis trolling again on a thread which could have very serious discussion yet............

It is getting out of hand , @WebMaster, @Awesome @nuclearpak, @Aeronaut, @Oscar kindly restrict pakistan affairs especially social and political discussions to Pakistani members only to curb this indian vs pakistani trolling......

It may come as a surprise to you, but some of the best amongst us are, because our attitudes about decency and their origin in a particular religiosity, actually enablers of the radicals that have destroyed Pakistani society, even as they are victims of those radicals -- BTW always notice that DECENCY is about a power relationship, do give it some thought - Those women too big for their own shoes, those awful Shiah causing affront by simply existing and those incredibly ridiculous Ahmadi who do not have the decency to just die and those Christians who do not have the decency to give up their possessions and then those Sikhs, carrying out rites that offend the righteous.

Come now. Don't be so hard on the Pakistanis. Let's not be immature of the likes of some of the other posters here who have decided to take a serious social issue and make a d!ck measuring contest of it. Let us introspect and reach the logical conclusion that this isn't a Pakistani problem but a region problem. To do otherwise will be an injustice to the Pakistani people. That the Taliban and the murderers of non conformists in Pakistan is a widely reported item does not confine the problem to Pakistan. This is a South Asian mentality, namely women and "others" should know their place or else we will show them their place. India's widely reported rapes are not the acts of some highly testosterone super alpha males out to satisfy their sexual urges. It is the acts of males who reject the independence and intellect displayed by women, even western women who have the affront to dress "liberally" in their country (notwithstanding the fact that one of them was accompanied by her husband). Religious minorities such as Muslims and Sikhs have also been shown their place as history reflects. Bangladesh is another nation well known for putting women, children and "those others" in their places. It's history beautifully reflects the manhood of its state. The Taliban in Pakistan and the religious extremists are unfortunately the target of media zooming after 911. They exist in all forms throughout South Asia. Hindu Taliban. Sexual deviant Taliban. Muslim Taliban. What's the difference ?

Ex-Indian Army doctor chops wife's body into 100 pieces,arrested

Last Updated: Saturday, June 22, 2013, 18:41

Bhubaneswar: A retired army doctor was arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife after chopped parts of her body were found inside nearly two dozen steel containers in two iron boxes at their home here, police said Saturday.

Police raided the house of Col (retd.) Somanath Parida, in the Nayapalli area Friday night after some relatives went to meet the couple but did not find his wife, Usashri, at home. Suspecting foul play, they informed police.

During a search, police stumbled upon two iron boxes in which the chopped body parts were found, placed in 22 steel containers, along with some dissection instruments.

Police also found a plastic bag inside a bathroom in which they suspect the leg bones of the dead woman were kept.

Although police suspect Parida killed his wife, he has yet to confess to the crime and claims that his wife committed suicide.

Parida however admitted that he cut down the body into pieces because he wanted to keep the matter secret as the death would come as a shock to his children and other family members.

Police suspect Parida killed his wife about a fortnight ago, chopped her body into small pieces and was allegedly disposing off them over the past days.

Assistant Commissioner of Police BC Mishra told IANS that Parida was arrested on the basis of prima facie evidence.

Investigation is on to ascertain the exact reason behind the alleged murder, he added.

Parida's son and daughter live abroad.

Much more honorable than being stoned to death by a bunch of tribals.

What a coincidence, when i read the following title, one almost knew it could only be India.

20-year-old gang-raped, set on fire

Its a common problem.... our perception of women.

This has to go especially in backward areas.

In fact, if these Khaps/Taliban types don't listen to persuasion to be more open minded, IMO send a bunch of soldiers to beat the crap out of them.

All these contribute to this incident!
*Male egoistic hormones
*Taboo of male-female interaction
*family fears public humilition , incase of a scandal unearthed
==============
i Think it would have been better if the family would have kept check on her mobile incomming and outgoing, instead of killing her

I think this is an awful way to look at the situation - why should we aspire to be as messed up as some others? Is that really the best we can do or OUGHT to do?

Yes, many other peoples have similar problems, but the thread is not about comparing ourselves with others - and I really do think that we do ourselves a disservice when we do such things because the net effect is that issues tend never to be examined fearlessly, -- you know the point we are all responsible , so no one is.

Of course I am speaking from the point of view of someone primarily concerned with Pakistani society - All of South Asia is acess pool, so we should we one too?

PAKISTAN: A Christian woman was raped for four days; the rapist identified himself as a senior officer in the Inter Services Intelligence Agency

ISSUES: Abduction; illegal detention; rape; violence against women; religious minorities
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear friends,

The Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has received information that a 24-year-old Christian woman was abducted and raped for a period of four days in different cities by a person who identified himself as a serving Major in the Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) agency which is the intelligence wing of the Pakistan Army. A First Information Report was filed but the police have been unable to arrest him. After releasing the victim at the Faisalabad, Punjab province, railway station he threatened her that if she told anybody about the rape he would involve her parents in a bomb blast case.

Please send an urgent appeal to the authorities to arrest the rapist and initiate an enquiry into the involvement of an army officer in the abduction and rape of a Christian woman.

Social issues such as crimes against women and children and against minorities have no political boundaries my friend. Our region is a litmus test proof of that. It is a collective responsibility. It reflects our common trait. Regrettably, it is a commonness unworthy of celebration
