Sir I'm just saying in the face of the MKIs, 11 LUSH standard SHs offers very little military utility to the Indian nation. As such the real utility of this ship is as a training vessel.
You're mixing things up or are getting mixed up.
Fleet Defence is the primary charter of the Fleet Air Arm. The IAF has no part of it, not even the MKIs.
While Coastal Air Defence is the charter of the IAF, not the IN's Air Wing. Shore Based air attack has been given to the IM Jaguars of the IAF not even the MKI. MKIs may back-up if required just as the MiG-29Ks may back-up if required to the IAF.
But the main AORs are well delineated.
Now the Sea Harriers had/have the role of fleet defence with a secondary fleet attack role. Do you consider that to be of "little military utility to the Indian nation"?
Maybe you do not think so, but the Sea Harriers are critical to defence/preservation of the Indian Fleet at sea. Not MKIs.
Let us not assign imaginary or wishful roles to the various military assets in the Indian Armory. The MoD/Armed Forces (in their wisdom) have already done some allocation of responsibilities and assignment of tasks. Some modifications and adjustments were undertaken in the past but the essential delineations have been adhered to.
